( CBS DFW ) — A possible fourth stimulus check has been suggested, even as the third round of economic relief is still reaching eligible Americans. Around 159 million payments of up to $1,400 per person have been issued over the last few weeks. That’s most of the $422 billion allotted in President Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act. Paper checks and EIP cards continue to arrive by mail. These relief payments are part of a larger effort to cushion COVID’s economic impact on households and support the economy while the pandemic recovery continues. The stimulus package also extends unemployment benefits, strengthens the child tax credit, and much more. The recent round of checks follows the $1,200 CARES Act payments at the pandemic’s outset and the $600 payments in early January. Father James Moreno sexually assaulted a teenage boy dozens of times over two years after they met at a Denver Catholic school — including in the rectory of the city’s most prominent church. Moreno assaulted the boy more than 60 times between 1978 and 1980. He groomed him, gave him alcohol and marijuana, and raped him, according to a report released Tuesday by the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. The abuse happened all over Denver: in the rooms of St. Andrew’s Preparatory Seminary High School, in Moreno’s car, in the boy’s home, in the rectory of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in the heart of Denver, one block from the state Capitol. The teen, now grown, reported the abuse to authorities last year after the publication of a state-led investigation into child sex abuse perpetrated by Catholic priests in Colorado. Additional investigation into Colorado’s three Catholic dioceses found nine more priests who sexually abused children, including Moreno and a Denver … [Read more...] about Further investigation into Colorado Catholic Church IDs 46 more victims, 9 more abusive priests — including Denver’s Father Woody
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Millions of Americans could soon be receiving an unexpected extra stimulus check. The IRS has started sending out “plus-up” payments to people who did not receive the full stimulus payment amount they are eligible for. READ MORE: After Air Bag Wiring Problem Toyota Recalls 2009-2015 Venza SUVs In US When the latest stimulus payments started going out, the payment amount was determined by the most recent tax return information the IRS had on file. For many that was still their 2019 tax return. However, especially with the pandemic shut downs and record unemployment, many had a much lower income in 2020. In some cases, the lower income made them eligible for a bigger stimulus check. These “plus-up” checks are the difference between what people initially received and what they are entitled to. “The most important thing people can do to make sure they receive their proper stimulus amount would be to go ahead of file a 2020 tax return,” said Bob … [Read more...] about IRS Sending Out ‘Plus-Up’ Stimulus Checks To Those Underpaid

In the largest sale of a Denver-area hotel since the pandemic began, a 461-room property in the Denver Tech Center has changed hands for less than half the price it fetched in 2016. The Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center at 7800 E. Tufts Ave. last week sold to HRDTC Hotel Owner LLC, an entity affiliated with Ontario-based Westmont Hospitality Management. The sale price was $41.54 million, according to public records. That’s a 57 percent drop from when the seller, CP Denver LLC — an entity affiliated with Columbia Sussex Management — purchased the property. It paid $96 million in September 2016, records show. Westmont and Columbia Sussex did not respond to separate requests for comment on Monday. New York-based Square Mile Capital provided financing for last week’s deal, according to loan documents. The same firm also provided a loan for the 2016 transaction. The Hyatt Regency has 451 rooms, according to the seller’s website. It is one of the 10 largest hotels in the metro … [Read more...] about Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center sells for less than half of what owner paid in 2016
