Martin Truex Jr., 2017 NASCAR champion with Furniture Row Racing, signs extension with Joe Gibbs
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Martin Truex Jr. has signed a multi-year agreement to stay at Joe Gibbs Racing, where the 2017 NASCAR champion has won eight races in his two years with the team. Truex joined Denny Hamlin as JGR drivers who signed contract extensions this month. Truex, Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Christopher Bell are all signed at Gibbs at least through 2022. “This is where I wanted to be and to continue building on the success we have had together the past two years,” Truex said Wednesday. Truex — whose late-career metamorphosis from journeyman to champion was unprecedented in NASCAR history — signed with Gibbs after Denver’s Furniture Row Racing folded after the 2018 season. Truex won the 2017 Cup title with FRR and was series runner-up in 2018 and 2019. ANAHEIM (CBSLA) – The Anaheim Police Department busted dozens of people inside an illegal gambling operation in Orange County. It happened Wednesday morning. Security video shows S.W.A.T. officers serving a search warrant on a slap house inside an Anaheim furniture store. Furniture Store Opens Two Houston Warming Centers During Winter Storm
The owner of a Texas-based furniture store chain is opening two of his stores as warming centers in Houston to shelter people from the winter storm. Many people in the area have suffered power outages that have lasted more than 24 hours, forcing them to seek refuge in warm areas outside their cold, unheated homes. Since many of these people have nowhere to go, a furniture store owner who goes by the name of “Mattress Mack” opened two of his furniture stores and turned them into warming centers, KTRK reported . “We’re here to help the community,” Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, owner of Gallery Furniture, told KPRC. “A lot of people are without power. Come see us until the power gets back on.” The warming centers are complete with food, hot chocolate, sweatshirts, coffee, and blankets. “The cold is bitter, so we’re opening up the doors to Houstonians,” Mack said, adding that there is security around the clock.
