DENVER – On the day political handicappers shifted the Colorado Senate race into a more winnable zone for Republicans, Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet released an attack ad that bewildered GOP nominee Joe O'Dea's campaign. Bennet released an ad Thursday attempting to paint O'Dea as someone who wants to ban all abortion. However, O'Dea, to the chagrin of some Colorado Republicans , is far more pro-choice than much of his party. "Michael Bennet has always fought for a woman's right to make her own healthcare decisions, but Joe O'Dea opposes the law protecting abortion access in Colorado," one Coloradan said in Bennet's ad. "O'Dea would have voted to confirm Trump's Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade," another person says. Judge: Prosecutors cannot enforce Michigan’s abortion ban
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan judge on Friday blocked county prosecutors from enforcing the state’s 1931 ban on abortion for the foreseeable future after two days of witness testimony from abortion experts, providers and the state’s chief medical officer. The ruling comes after the state Court of Appeals said earlier this month that county prosecutors were not covered by a May order and could enforce the prohibition following the fall of Roe v. Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court. “The harm to the body of women and people capable of pregnancy in not issuing the injunction could not be more real, clear, present and dangerous to the court,” Oakland County Judge Jacob Cunningham said during his ruling Friday. David Kallman, an attorney representing two Republican county prosecutors, said an appeal is planned. “The judge ignored all of the clear legal errors and problems in this case, it appears to me, simply because the issue is abortion,” Kallman told The Associated Press … [Read more...] about Judge: Prosecutors cannot enforce Michigan’s abortion ban

How one Texas mom launched the political movement against Gov. Greg Abbott
It all started when activist Nancy Thompson's son ended up in the ER last year with a viral infection doctors warned could put her son at risk of a serious bout with COVID-19. The Austin mother of three was immediately concerned about having to send her son back to school just as Gov. Greg Abbott had ended statewide mask mandates. "I was worried he was going to go off to school, catch another virus and die," Thompson says. "I was upset because Abbott wasn't doing anything to take care of Texas kids." Thompson vented her frustration at the State Capitol last August, joining other protesters in standing against the state's pandemic measures. Her sign read "Mothers Against Greg Abbott." At the time, she didn't realize the message shared the same MAGA acronym as former President Donald Trump's campaign slogan: Make America Great Again. "I didn't know what to put on the poster board but I knew that I was really angry at Greg Abbott," she says. They say nothing happens in Texas … [Read more...] about How one Texas mom launched the political movement against Gov. Greg Abbott
