WASHINGTON — A new, gambling-focused telecast of Washington Wizards games is just the appetizer to what the team and its TV partner hope will be a more substantial main course: giving fans the ability to place bets in real time while watching games at home.Whether that idea comes to fruition will depend on laws in the states where Wizards games are shown on the regional network NBC Sports Washington. Playwright Lucas Hnath's shrewdly clever "A Doll's House, Part 2" is a look at what might have happened after Henrik Ibsen's Nora, feeling betrayed and disillusioned, exited her family's life to discover who she really is. The original play, written and set in 1879 Norway, caused great scandal and controversy as it examined the roles of men and women in marriage in the 19th century. Hnath picks up the proto-feminist drama 15 years after Nora's departure. With a dramatic knock on that same door, she has returned to her family's home. After leaving her husband, Torvald, and their three children, Nora has become a successful novelist, writing against the entire concept of marriage itself. Still living, however, under the strictures of the laws of the time, she now … [Read more...] about Southern Rep opens new doors with timely, piercing ‘Doll’s House, Part 2’
Students using the Ram Pantry should know there is a different way to get there. The Ram Pantry, which provides an assortment of food and supplies to needy students, opened for service on Aug. 20 with its entrance in the back patio, rather than through the main door of the Student Center building. The pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, and serves all students who are currently enrolled in the college. Students with their students IDs can collect up to eight items of food daily. “What we are really hoping for is for students to be more successful because we’re taking care of their food issues,” said Cindy Dunn, coordinator of the Ram Pantry.
