But new reports from The Washington Post seem to contradict Trump's outward support of gun reform as the president reportedly spoke with National Rifle Association chief executive Wayne LaPierre a number of times this week after the shootings. U.S. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is making an unlikely offer of $100,000 to the National Rifle Association (NRA) if the financially troubled gun rights organization bans animal trophy hunters including President Donald Trump’s sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump from its membership. PETA President Ingrid Newkirk made the donation offer to the NRA, which stated it may soon “be unable to exist,” in a letter to its Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre on Tuesday. U.S. For the third consecutive year, President Donald Trump will be the keynote speaker that the National Rifle Association of America’s annual convention. Trump’s speech this year, on Friday morning, has the added political dimension of taking place in Indianapolis, in the home state of South Bend mayor and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg. Trump’s visit to Indiana for the NRA Institute for Legislative Action Leadership Forum will be his first to the state since Buttigieg announced his bid. The forum is taking place at the Indiana Convention Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time, with Vice President Mike Pence slated to begin speaking around 11:10 a.m. Trump is expected to speak afterward.
