Notre Dame has told video game giant EA Sports that it will not be allowed to include the university in its NCAA college football video game until the rules are put in place allowing their athletes to be compensated. EA Sports had announced this month that it is about to release a new version of its NCAA college football video game, which was last updated way back in 2013. However, the game maker noted that individual players and current player rosters would not be part of the game this year. Notre Dame LB Jack Lamb transferring to CU Buffs
The Colorado Buffaloes are adding another transfer to the football program. Inside linebacker Jack Lamb, who played at Notre Dame the past three years, announced Thursday on Twitter that he is coming to Boulder. “Excited to announce that I will be continuing my football career and pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Colorado Boulder!” he wrote. Notre Dame sues Obama over birth control mandate
The University of Notre Dame is suing the Obama administration over its mandate requiring employers to cover birth control, claiming it’s a violation of religious freedom. Other Catholic schools have initiated lawsuits against the Department of Health and Human Services for requiring them to cover birth control. Notre Dame is the largest Roman Catholic university in the country and poses a problem for President Obama, who has had a good relationship with the school in the past. Obama was given an honorary law degree by the university in 2009 and gave the graduation commencement speech that year, speaking about the need for civil debate in the abortion issue. “Understand – I do not suggest that the debate surrounding abortion can or should go away. No matter how much we may want to fudge it… the fact is that at some level, the views of the two camps are irreconcilable,” Obama said in his speech. “Each side will continue to make its case to the public with passion and … [Read more...] about Notre Dame sues Obama over birth control mandate
Long Island Students Send Valentines To Local Health Care Heroes
NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A lot of love is going out to nurses this Valentine’s Day . Students at Notre Dame Catholic School on Long Island made Valentine’s Day cards for their health care heroes. The cards were sent to NYU Langone Hospital Long Island to encourage them as they continue to battle the pandemic. Friday, the school took part in a Zoom call with hospital officials, who were grateful for the support. “I would hope that, listening and seeing what you shared in these cards, that each of you really think about how you can help the world and how you can make the world a better place, and one of the great things to do is to be in health care,” said Valerie Terzano, vice president for nursing at the hospital. The hospital plans to compile all the cards and share them with all the nurses working at the hospital.
