Startup bets on artificial intelligence to counter misinformation
U.K.-based fact checking startup Logically launched a new service Monday aimed at helping governments and NGOs identify and counter online misinformation using a blend of artificial intelligence and human expertise. Every month, we Strategist editors tell you about the best things we’ve recently bought for ourselves. But what about the things we wish other people would buy for us? It’s a ritual for us to share our holiday wish lists , but during the rest of the year we’re also having birthdays, housewarming parties, weddings , babies , and more. So now we’re spilling about the gifts we’d like for those milestones, as well. This time: senior editor Margaret Rhodes on anniversary gifts. The only person I know who’s pickier than a Strat editor is the one with whom I’m celebrating a three-year anniversary. The man will drink Yuengling out of a faded wedding koozie, but to shop with him is to analyze details most of us pass over — the way thread loops through a button, or the shade of rubber on the sole of a Vans shoe . I won’t even buy a houseplant without consulting him, so in honor of our anniversary — something that’s a mutual celebration, anyway — any … [Read more...] about The Gifts Our Senior Editor Is Contemplating for Her Anniversary

Alexandre de Paris Hair Clip $75 “A few years ago, my mom went crazy on vacation and bought half a dozen hair clips from this shoe box of a store in Paris — apparently, they grip hair painlessly without ever coming loose. Way pricier than the stuff at the drugstore, but she swears by them.” $75 at Shopbop Buy Fitbit Alta $129 “My mom never takes off her Fitbit, which at this point is two-plus years old (I’ve literally walked around the block with her after heavy dinners). I’d get her the newest version, which tracks sleep and steps, but also notifies her whenever she gets a text.” $129 at Amazon Buy Le Feu de … [Read more...] about Here’s What the Strategist Editors Are Gifting This Mother’s Day
