OAKLAND -- Scribbles in my halftime Browns notebook as they play the Raiders in Oakland. Browns had a 17-14 lead. 1. There is almost no discussion about the Raiders moving to Las Vegas. There are no signs -- at least that I see -- in the stands. 2. Baker Mayfield made a poor throw to Antonio Callaway in the first quarter. The ball was a little behind him. Oakland's Marcus Glichrist cut in front of Callaway, who seemed to slip. The ball was deflected, and run back for a 36-yard TD by Oakland defensive back Gareon Conley. 3. On Mayfield's next possession, he fired a short laser for a 9-yard gain to Jarvis Landry. He plays with terrific confidence. On a fourth-and-6, Mayfield scrambled for first down. He ran out bounds to avoid contact. Smart play. 4. The officials had a silly sequence in the first quarter throwing flags on three plays in a row. None were serious violations. Mayfield was barely touched and they called "roughing the passer." 5. Mayfield did lead the Browns down the … [Read more...] about Cleveland Browns Halftime Scribbles: Baker Mayield good first half, Nick Chubb sizzles — Terry Pluto

Will Browns RBs Duke Johnson, Carlos Hyde and Nick Chubb get enough touches? (video)
CLEVELAND, Ohio a Gone is Isaiah Crowell and in his place are two powerful backs in former Buckeye Carlos Hyde and Nick Chubb, their second-round pick out of Georgia. In addition to those two, the Browns signed Duke Johnson to a three-year extension worth $15.6 million, making him one of the highest paid backs in the league beginning next year. In the video above, we discuss the three-headed monster and whether or not the Browns will have enough touches to go around. One thing is for certain: the touches don't all have to be carries. Johnson led the Browns in 2017 in receptions (74) and receiving yards (693) while totaling seven touchdowns. His receptions and yards were a franchise best for a running back in a season. Will they all get fed? Hear our take in this video. … [Read more...] about Will Browns RBs Duke Johnson, Carlos Hyde and Nick Chubb get enough touches? (video)
Browns’ Nick Chubb signs his 4-year rookie contract worth about $7.4 million
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Browns second-round running back Nick Chubb, who will share the load with Carlos Hyde and Duke Johnson this season, has signed his four-year rookie deal worth about $7,432, 092. It includes a signing bonus of about $3,485,158, according to projections by spotrac.com. That leaves only the two first-round picks unsigned: No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield and No. 4 overall pick Denzel Ward. Coach Hue Jackson is eager to jumpstart the running game this season with his trio of versatile backs. "I see an AFC North back is what I see,'' Jackson said on draft weekend. "I see a guy that is very physical, very tough. He can create runs on his own. Obviously, he had a really good career at Georgia, the No. 2 rusher in all of the SEC in his time there. This is a guy that if we are going to run the football the way that we plan on running it, you have got to have good backs. With him and Carlos and (RB) Duke, we feel like we have some guys that we can do that with."
