New Hangout, ‘Next Whiskey Bar,’ Coming To Plainfield In 2020
PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield's whiskey lovers have something to look forward to in 2020. A new whiskey-and-cocktail focused bar - named, appropriately enough, the Next Whiskey Bar - is set to open in the village in early 2020. The bar is owned by Dan Tacone and Ben Devee, two veterans of the service industry. They also co-own the Next-Mex restaurant in Lemont, and a prior Next Whiskey Bar (or NWB, as they also call it) location that has been open in Lisle for about three years. Tacone and Devee said they chose to expand into Plainfield after considering a number of potential sites. "We reached out to a bunch of towns, and Plainfield got right back in touch with us... [Plainfield Economic Development Manager Jake Melrose] came out and met with us, put us in contact with a couple different realtors, showed us properties that were for rent; what was coming down the pipeline," Devee said."We looked in Elmhurst, we looked in Western Springs; we reached out to La Grange, Clarendon … [Read more...] about New Hangout, ‘Next Whiskey Bar,’ Coming To Plainfield In 2020

Ocasio-Cortez Claims Victory Following Amazon Announcement
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed victory after Amazon announced its intention to lease office space in Manhattan, news which followed the lawmaker’s efforts to prevent the company from putting its second headquarters in New York City, which would have created 25,000 jobs.Ocasio-Cortez celebrated the reports indicating that Amazon agreed to lease a 335,000-square-foot office space in Manhattan opening in 2021, which will bring an estimated 1,500 jobs to the area. The news follows Amazon’s decision to back out of a deal to move its HQ2 project to Long Island City, which “could have created between 25,000 and 40,000 jobs with an average salary of $150,000,” as Breitbart News reported. Ocasio-Cortez opposed the idea due to the agreement’s “tax breaks and financial incentives” and celebrated Amazon’s decision to ditch the plan as a victory over “corporate greed.” “Won’t you look at that: Amazon is … [Read more...] about Ocasio-Cortez Claims Victory Following Amazon Announcement
Taste Of The Town: Italian Restaurant ‘Boia De’ Sophisticated, Yet Whimsical
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tucked in a strip mall off 52nd Street and NE 2nd Avenue is Boia De, a small retro yet modern hidden gem owned by chef couple Luci Giangrandi and Alex Meyer. This is the first restaurant for the duo, who before that operated a popular Mexican food cart in The Miami Design District. They met several years ago when they worked together in the kitchen in New York. “We started out as friends. It was a slow burn,” said Meyer. “Kind of like ‘When Harry Met Sally,’” said CBS4’s Lisa Petrillo, laughing. We can’t directly translate from Italian what ‘Boia De’ means, but Luci says it loosely means “Oh, My.” “It’s an Italian phrase, meaning a nice surprise. That feeling we hope you get when you walk through the doors here,” said Luci. (CBS4) Boia De is a neighborhood spot, with just 24 seats that fill up nightly. There’s also a well-rounded wine list of over 75 selections. … [Read more...] about Taste Of The Town: Italian Restaurant ‘Boia De’ Sophisticated, Yet Whimsical
