America’s pandemic toll: In one year, half a million lives lost to COVID-19
Just one year ago, America had no idea. Life in February 2020 still felt normal. Concern was building about a mystery respiratory illness that had just been named COVID-19. There was panic buying, and a sense of trepidation. Yet it was tempered by a large dose of American optimism. The U.S. is currently administering over 1.7 million shots a day, sometimes reaching or exceeding 2 million, up from just over 1 million per day at the beginning of February. In New York City, thousands of Brooklynites lined up over the weekend to get their jabs at a vaccination hub at Medgar Evers College, while thousands more appointment slots opened up across the city. With retail … [Read more...] about The U.S. Vaccination Effort Is Speeding Up — Fast
