Jessica Bies Delaware News Journal Published 6:00 AM EST Jan 18, 2019 The new Netflix series by Marie Kondo, the Japanese home organization expert and author, has been invading homes across the United States, inspiring people to tidy up their homes and discard belongings that no longer bring them joy. But what happens to all that stuff after the purge? Do you throw it all away? Or donate it? The show has reportedly sparked an increase in thrift store donations nationwide. Leah Coles, director of business and community development for Goodwill of Delaware, said the nonprofit has seen an uptick in donations this month, though it's unclear if it's because of Marie Kondo fans. "We can’t say for sure that’s it’s due to the Tidying Up show, however, as a variety of factors come into play such as weather and people cleaning out after the holidays," she said. That gave the county the leverage it needed to bring in new businesses and to be more competitive in luring industry and a more skilled workforce. "We have everything businesses are looking for right here in Kent County, including a quality workforce," said Kent County Administrator Michael Petit de Mange. As a result of those partnerships, several big projects are on tap for Kent County in 2019.
