Seventeen-year-old Anthony Templet shocked the nation when he shot his father three times in their Louisiana home. However, the dark secrets that would soon emerge would be even more disturbing. The 2019 murder is the subject of a three-part, Netflix documentary, " I Just Killed My Dad ," which premieres on Tuesday. At the center of the crime is the unassuming four-bedroom, three-bathroom house in a quiet Baton Rouge, LA , neighborhood where Anthony alleges years of abuse and isolation occurred before the situation erupted violently. On June 3, 2019, Anthony said he was sleeping in his room in the house when his father, who was drunk, woke him up around 3 a.m. Burt Templet was going through Anthony's cellphone to see if his son had been communicating with Burt's estranged wife. (She had taken out a 55-page restraining order against Burt, alleging physical abuse and threats.) Anthony claims his father then tried to hit him, but he escaped to his father's bedroom. BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A federal judge on Friday reinstated a moratorium on coal leasing from federal lands that was imposed under former President Barack Obama and then scuttled under former President Donald Trump, in an order that marked a major setback to the already struggling coal industry. The ruling from U.S. District Judge Brian Morris requires government officials to conduct a new environmental review before they can resume coal sales from federal lands. Morris faulted the government's previous review of the program, done under Trump, for failing to adequately consider the climate damage from coal's greenhouse gas emissions and other effects. Almost half the nation’s annual coal production — some 260 million tons last year — is mined by private companies from leases on federal land, primarily in Western states such as Wyoming, Montana and Colorado. Few coal leases were sold in recent years after demand for the fuel shrank drastically. But the industry’s opponents … [Read more...] about Judge revives Obama-era ban on coal sales from US lands

close Video Manchin-Schumer spending bill is ‘fraud’: Sen. Graham Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, argues against the ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ and warns the bill will ‘make every problem worse.’ NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles! House Democrats passed on Friday a $739 billion climate change, tax hike, and healthcare bill, giving President Biden's domestic agenda a boost at a time of record high inflation and low presidential job approval numbers. In a 220-to-207 vote, the House voted along party lines to approve the legislation. Every single Democrat supported the bill in the face of opposition from all Republicans except three who did not vote. "Today is really a glorious day for us," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. "We send to the president's desk a monumental bill that will be truly for the people." Republicans vehemently opposed the bill, arguing its provisions will worsen the U.S. economy and impose new burdens … [Read more...] about House Democrats pass $739B Manchin-Schumer spending and tax increase bill
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 3 San Francisco wants to extend the pandemic-era program used to shelter homeless people in hotels through the end of the year as official face the daunting task of rehousing hundreds of people still living in them. Officials and advocates said the program helped to reduce the number of people living on city streets over the past two years. Advocates protested shutting down sites, wanting to keep filling them as temporary shelters even if permanent housing is uncertain , although some question how effective it’s been in getting people into long-term housing and treatment. The city also now faces millions of dollars in claims for property damage from hotel owners. Since April 2020, the program has sheltered 3,771 people in 25 hotels, according to the homelessness department. Less than half of the people who exited hotels went into permanent housing and few have entered residential … [Read more...] about S.F. wants to extend hotel homeless shelters, but are residents housed when they leave?
