“The first documented case was in 1605, when an English expedition captured four Wabanakis in what’s now Maine and brought them back to London,” Newell said. “The expedition was run by a man named Ferdinando Gorges, who hoped to establish a colony in northern New England and was looking for captives to use as guides and interpreters.” … [Read more...] about Enslaved Native Americans Played Central Role in 1600s New England Households

The Democrats’ Civil War Over the Filibuster Has Barely Begun
This said, the trends bedeviling Democrats have been in motion for decades and are rooted in America’s most durable political divides. Joe Biden takes action to address new threat of domestic terrorism
One announcement that has received less attention is a critical first step to bolster our security from a growing and sophisticated menace. Biden has asked the director of national intelligence for a comprehensive threat assessment of domestic violent extremism. This will properly focus on the type of homegrown insurrectionists we saw invade the Capitol earlier this month. We have to learn more about the links between homegrown and foreign terrorism. In 2019, Federal Bureau of Investigation director Chris Wray informed Congress that American white supremacists are traveling overseas for training with foreign nationalist groups. The New York Times confirmed those activities in a report this week. … [Read more...] about Joe Biden takes action to address new threat of domestic terrorism
