Patrick Connolly Las Vegas Review-Journal @PConnPie Las Vegas-based Scientific Games Corp. endured a $201.8 million net loss in its first quarter as it transitions from being a gaming equipment supplier to a company that also will provide sports wagering technology. The company reported results from the quarter that ended March 31 after the close of the market Wednesday and executives discussed them in a conference call with investors early Thursday. Much of the loss was attributed to costs and interest payments stemming from the company’s $630 million acquisition of NYX Gaming Group, developer of the OpenBet sports-betting platform. OpenBet handles 80 percent of sports-betting transactions in the United Kingdom, the largest online gaming market in the world. WPX reported a net loss of $119 million, or 30 cents per diluted share, for the first quarter of 2018 after the close of markets on Wednesday.The Tulsa-based exploration company reported net gains of $88 million, or 23 cents per diluted share, during the same three-month period of 2017.“The market is seeing just how much infrastructure matters in the Permian, which we’ve articulated since we entered the basin three years ago with our RKI acquisition that included gas gathering and water systems,” said. The amusement park chain, headquartered in Sandusky at its Cedar Point park, reported revenues of $54.7 million, compared to $48.3 million in the first quarter of 2017. Cedar Fair said that its first-quarter increase in revenues was driven by increases in both attendance and average in-park guest per capita spending at its Knotts Berry Farm park in Los Angeles, the company’s only year-round park. Air Industries reports wider net loss for 2017; forecasts higher revenue for 2018
Hauppauge defense contractor Air Industries Group reported a wider net loss in 2017, but forecast higher revenue in 2018. The company, which makes landing gear for military jets, posted a net loss of $22.6 million in 2017 compared to a net loss of $15.6 million in 2016. Revenue was $49.9 million in 2017 versus $51.3 million in the previous year. The company, which issued preliminary financial data on April 3, filed a report on Wednesday and an amended report after the market close Thursday. Shares of Air Industries fell 4.9 percent to $1.55 in Friday afternoon trading. The company said it expects 2018 revenue will exceed 2017 levels, but did not provide a specific target. The company, which has been coping with liquidity issues, set a "goal" to halt its losses by the fourth quarter of 2018.
