ROCKAWAY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Every day, a New Jersey woman travels to Newark to help people experiencing homelessness, but Tuesday, she took it a step further. She offered for them to spend a day out of the cold and take them to a place they could feel the warmth from the community. He overheard a conversation; Jenny DePaul was inviting people on a trip while doing outreach. “I said, ‘Would you mind if I go?’ She said, ‘Of course not, I would love to have you with us,'” Veal told CBS2’s Lisa Rozner. DePaul personally drove Veal and a few others from Newark to the Kindness Closet in Rockaway, started through her nonprofit Project Kind. At the closet, they could choose whatever they needed most. Wells Fargo Center Allowing Fans Back Sunday As Philadelphia Eases COVID-19 Events Restrictions
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — After waiting for nearly a year, fans will soon be allowed back at the Wells Fargo Center and Citizens Bank Park. Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley announced Tuesday that the city is changing its events restrictions to match Pennsylvania’s new limits for indoor and outdoor events. Indoor events will now have a 15% capacity regardless of the size of the venue and outdoor event space now has 20% capacity. ‘Vial Of Death’: Louis Farrakhan Pushes Vaccine Conspiracy Theories In Videos Posted On Facebook, Twitter
Louis Farrakhan, the leader of the Nation of Islam, called the coronavirus shot a “vial of death” at an event held this weekend, and falsely claimed that the vaccine has killed people. Videos of the event are found on the Nation of Islam’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Both social media sites have recently developed policies to combat vaccine-related misinformation. Farrakhan chided black celebrities who have promoted the vaccine, saying that they were ‘being bought and paid for’ by the government and aid in the ‘destruction of your people.’ Louis Farrakhan, the influential leader of the Nation of Islam, continued his crusade against the coronavirus vaccines over the weekend, calling the vaccine a “vial of death” during remarks at the extremist group’s convention, where other speakers falsely claimed that the vaccines have caused more than 900 deaths.
