CLEVELAND, Ohio - Wagering on team sports such as the NCAA basketball tournament still is not permitted under Ohio law, but Ohioans don’t have to go far to place legal bets on their favorite games.Pennsylvania and West Virginia are among the states that have legalized sports betting since the U.S. Supreme Court in May issued a ruling opening up the possibility for any state to do so. Legal sports betting is now taking place in eight states, according to a national survey conducted by the Associated Press. The others are Delaware, New Jersey, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Mississippi and, of course, the nation’s gambling capital of Nevada.As for Ohio, Gov. DeWine predicted last week that sports gambling is on its way to Ohio, but he deferred to the legislature to determine how to proceed. Sports The wait is finally over. The 68 spots on the bracket for the 2019 NCAA Tournament have been filled and March Madness can begin in its earnest. Duke enters the Big Dance as the number one overall seed, while fellow Atlantic Coast Conference heavy hitters Virginia and North Carolina are also ranked number one in their respective regions. That makes the ACC the first conference in a decade to get three Number One seeds. "They earned their right to be there,'' Stanford athletic director Bernard Muir, the chair of the selection committee, said Sunday on CBS. In total, the ACC will have seven representatives in the tournament, as many as the SEC and one fewer than the Big Ten, which leads all conferences with eight teams.
