‘Foreigner’ Arrested After Swedish Woman Murdered in Broad Daylight: Report
A man said to be in his forties has been arrested in connection to the stabbing of a woman in broad daylight in an underpass in the city of Linköping earlier this week. The attack took place on Thursday morning and saw the 44-year-old Swedish woman stabbed multiple times in the area of the city’s main railway station. She was badly injured in the attack and died of her injuries after being taken to a local hospital. According to a report from the newspaper Aftonbladet , a man in his forties was arrested in connection with the with the attack and is now being charged with murder. As is customary in Swedish media, few details of the suspect have been released by the mainstream media, however news website Nyheter Idag has claimed that tax records they have seen indicate that the man is foreign and comes from the Balkan region, saying that the documents state he is a citizen of the former country of Serbia and Montenegro, which was split up in 2006. ANNAPOLIS (WJZ) — Maryland added exactly 1,500 new coronavirus cases and 17 deaths as hospitalizations decreased Saturday. Hospitalizations went down by 22 to 1,210. Of those, 288 people are in ICU beds and 922 are in acute care. Since the pandemic began in the state there have been 434,859 confirmed COVID-19 cases. At this time, 8,359 Marylanders have died. As of Saturday morning, there are 1,577,563 Marylanders fully vaccinated for the virus. The state has administered 3,833,717 doses so far. Of those, 2,256,154 are first doses, with 34,573 administered in the last day. They have administered 1,398,131 second doses, with 42,050 in the last day. PASADENA (CBSLA) – The historic flight of NASA’s Mars helicopter, which was slated for last week, but postponed due to technical issues, has been “cleared for takeoff” early on the morning of Monday, April 19, NASA JPL tweeted Sunday. A live stream of the first attempt at powered flight on another planet will begin at 3:15 a.m. PDT. The 4-pound solar-powered helicopter Ingenuity was scheduled to fly above the surface of Mars on April 11. However, the Pasadena-based Jet Propulsion Laboratory tweeted on the morning of April 10 that during a test, there was a technical issue which delayed the flight to April 14 at the earliest. “During the high-speed spin test, the sequence ended early during the transition from “preflight” to “flight” mode,” JPL tweeted. “The helicopter is safe & healthy. A collision between a boat and a barge following a professional fireworks show over the Ohio River in Louisville , Kentucky , has left one person dead and two others missing, according to reports. Divers were searching for the missing boaters south of the Caesars Southern Indiana casino and hotel, which is on the Indiana side of the river, the Courier-Journal in Louisville reported.
