Sewald relieved Marco Gonzalez with runners at second and third and struck out Starling Marte to escape a seventh-inning jam and keep the score tied. Ty France followed with a go-ahead single in the eighth, Sewald got three straight outs in the bottom half and the Mariners beat New York 2-1 Friday night in their first game at Citi Field. “The Mariners version of Paul Seward is much different than the Mets version of Paul Sewald,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said. From meeting Dan Marino to learning playbook, QB Skylar Thompson details Dolphins rookie minicamp
Miami Dolphins quarterback Skylar Thompson hadn’t met Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle upon completion of his first rookie minicamp practice Friday, but he did have a quick interaction with a Dolphins legend. As he walked out to the practice field for that initial session, Hall-of-Fame quarterback Dan Marino, who is now in Miami’s front office, was there to greet him. “It was just a welcome, getting to know me a little bit,” said Thompson, the Kansas State alum who was taken in the seventh round of the draft by the Dolphins. “I was heading out to practice, so it was very quick passing by. Just said hello, and he said he’s getting ready to get to know me and work with me a little bit. That was cool.” Thompson, mature for a rookie as he will turn 25 next month, then had the all-time great watching drills as he threw his first passes in a Dolphins practice jersey shortly after signing his contract Friday morning. “It’s very surreal,” Thompson said. “Obviously, one … [Read more...] about From meeting Dan Marino to learning playbook, QB Skylar Thompson details Dolphins rookie minicamp

Review: A landmark NYC police standoff in ‘Hold Your Fire’
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 5 When there are so many fictional, burly varieties of heroes so regularly on movie screens, it's jarring to see that the genuine article can be a humble, gaunt former traffic cop who believed in the power of talking. Harvey Schlossberg, who had a doctorate in psychology, is one of the faces of Stefan Forbes' gripping and illuminating documentary “Hold Your Fire," which chronicles a 1973 robbery of a Brooklyn sporting good store that turned into a hostage standoff that lasted 47 hours with throngs of observers and protesters huddled nearby beneath the elevated subway. The scene is classically New York, with masses of police on the brink of a siege and a city simmering with tension and anger. If it sounds like something out of “Dog Day Afternoon,” it was. The Brooklyn bank robbery that inspired Sidney Lumet's 1975 film had taken place the year before. Cara Delevingne Has Become Hollywood’s Weirdest—and Most Unwelcome—Party Girl
At last night’s Billboard Music Awards, a small handful of A-List stars and chart-topping musicians crowded into the same room as TikTokers, YouTubers, and a country music star on an attempted comeback tour after a leaked racist rant. To say the bar was on the floor when whipping up that invite list would be a massive understatement, but for the BBMAs, it totally tracks. If the Golden Globes are Hollywood’s chaotic , drunken answer to the Oscars, then the Billboard Music Awards are that to the Grammy s, turned up to an 11 when the ceremony takes place each May as spring turns into early summer and everybody—even celebrities, who are just like us—are feeling their most anxious to get out and turn up. But no one was more ready for a night of debauchery than England’s premiere party girl, Cara Delevingne : sometimes-model, occasional actress, New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ dancefloor buddy , and a perennial tornado of tumult. Fresh off of sending everyone at the Met Gala … [Read more...] about Cara Delevingne Has Become Hollywood’s Weirdest—and Most Unwelcome—Party Girl
