Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo blasted the “elites” during his speech at CPAC Saturday, defending the “America First” agenda by declaring, “We were willing to challenge the elites.” “I’m proud of our fight. Auditions for the 2024 Republican nomination have begun — and several big names are trying out for the role of the future Donald Trump. There’s one problem, however. The former president may not be ready to cede the stage to an understudy. Trump will give the keynote speech Sunday afternoon at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), which this year is being held in Orlando, Fla. The conference began in earnest on Friday. The speakers at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) believe former President Donald Trump is the leader of the conservative movement. The media, though, has written about the Republican Party and the “deep divisions over the extent to which it should embrace Trump after losing the White House and both chambers of Congress.” A headline in the Los Angeles Times reads , “The GOP’s civil war is just beginning, and the fighting will get worse before it gets better.” But the attendees at CPAC disagree.
