DUNDALK, Md. (WJZ) — A beloved former Patapsco High School football player is being remembered after he was killed in a car crash earlier this week. A vigil was held Thursday for 19-year-old Sean Ruffin. Early Tuesday morning, Maryland State Police say Ruffin was sitting in the passenger seat of a Toyota Camry driving north on MD 295 in Linthicum when the driver lost control and hit a tree. Expert Witness: Preexisting Conditions, Fentanyl Did Not Cause George Floyd’s Death
George Floyd died as a result of a lack of oxygen from being pressed against the pavement with a knee on his neck, a pulmonary critical care expert witness testified Thursday during Derek Chauvin’s murder trial. Dr. Martin Tobin, a specialist at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital and Loyola University’s medical school, flatly rejected that Floyd’s preexisting conditions or drug use caused his death. “A healthy person subjected to what Mr. Floyd was subjected to would have died,” Tobin said, describing how Floyd’s breathing was severely constricted as Chauvin and two other Minneapolis Police officers pinned him down on his stomach with his face pressed against the ground and handcuffs restraining his hands behind him. Apple Paid Lobbyist To ‘Educate Policymakers’ Regarding Bill To Stop Uighur Slave Labor
Apple, the trillion dollar tech company, paid a consulting firm $90,000 to “educate policymakers” regarding a bill that would prohibit U.S. companies from using forced labor of Uighur Muslims in China, according to lobbying disclosure reports filed on Friday. Apple paid two consulting firms for work on the House version of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act in the fourth quarter of 2020, according to the lobbying reports. The company paid $90,000 to Invariant LLC and the same amount to Fierce Government Relations , the records show. The Washington Post reported in November that lobbyists for Fierce Government Relations met with congressional staffers in an attempt to soften language in the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, which passed in the House by a vote of 406-3 vote on Sept. 22, 2020.
