WASHINGTON - U.S. President Donald Trump ordered his trade office Monday to investigate whether China is stealing American intellectual property, but Beijing warned in advance that both countries would end up losers in a trade war. Trump took a break from his working vacation at his golf resort in New Jersey to return to Washington to sign an executive order directing U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to investigate the alleged Chinese theft of American technology and intellectual property.  Trump wants trade officials to look at Chinese practices that force American companies to divulge their proprietary intellectual information in order to do business in China. Officials are investigating the apparent suicide of a Douglas County jail inmate who was found Wednesday morning unresponsive and hanging from his bed with a sheet around his neck. Gary Bellinger, 40, was found by deputies about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Deputies called for the medical staff and began CPR on Bellinger. He was transported to a hospital, where he survived his injuries through the night, according to a Douglas County sheriff’s press release. But about 2:50 p.m. Thursday, Bellinger was pronounced dead by a doctor. The final cause of death is under investigation by the sheriff’s office, the 18th Judicial District and the county coroner. Bellinger was in custody on charges of vehicle trespass, possession of fraudulent financial devices, theft, false reporting, obstructing police, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and three out-of-county warrants. Amazon removed the bestselling book “When Harry Became Sally: Responding To The Transgender Moment” from its online store on Sunday, the book’s author announced. Published in 2018 by then-Heritage Foundation research fellow and now-Ethics and Public Policy Center President Ryan T. Anderson, the book was an immediate bestseller, even on Amazon, according to the Washington Post. However, the online shopping giant removed the book on Sunday, Anderson tweeted.
