AZ Sheriff: ‘Would Love to Hear Dr. Fauci’ on COVID Risk from Border
On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Cochise County, AZ Sheriff Mark Dannels (R) stated that the Biden administration’s immigration policy “goes against the grain of the CDC. I would love to hear Dr. Fauci.” And that people entering the U.S. are “being released without being tested into communities.” Dannels stated, “It goes against the grain of the CDC. I would love to hear Dr. Fauci. Nobody is talking about what’s going on on the southwest border when it comes to the health pandemic in this country. They are not testing them. They’re being released without being tested into communities. And then you look at the public safety aspect of this. It’s upsetting. It’s almost like we’re not part of this country, which is very upsetting.” Follow Ian Hanchett on Twitter @IanHanchett … [Read more...] about AZ Sheriff: ‘Would Love to Hear Dr. Fauci’ on COVID Risk from Border
Jump in hiring fuels optimism for U.S. economic recovery
WASHINGTON — U.S. employers added a surprisingly robust 379,000 jobs last month in a sign the economy is strengthening as virus cases drop, vaccinations ramp up, Americans spend more and states ease business restrictions. The February gain marked a sharp pickup from the 166,000 jobs that were added in January and the loss of 306,000 in December. Yet it represents just a fraction of the roughly 9.5 million that the economy must regain to get back to where it was before the crisis. Unemployment fell from 6.3% to 6.2%, the Labor Department reported Friday. That is down dramatically from 14.8% last April, just after the virus erupted in the United States. But it’s well above the pre-pandemic rate of 3.5%. “The recovery really has some legs, some momentum now,” said Odeta Kushi, deputy chief economist at First American Financial Corp. In suggesting the economy is on the mend, the strong jobs report could complicate President Joe Biden’s struggle to push through his $1.9 trillion … [Read more...] about Jump in hiring fuels optimism for U.S. economic recovery

LA teachers’ union refuses to budge on school reopenings: ‘Structural racism’
close Video John James: Teacher unions perpetuate racial divides in education Former Michigan U.S. Senate candidate discusses effects of school closings on 'Fox News Primetime' The president of a Los Angeles teachers' union said Monday that the state's plan to return to in-person learning is "propagating structural racism." Her comments come after California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday reached a deal with state Democratic lawmakers that gives LA County schools $6.6 billion in incentives to reopen before April 1. "If you condition funding on the reopening of schools, that money will only go to White and wealthier schools that don't have the transmission rates that low-income, Black and Brown communities do," UTLA President Cecily Myart-Cruz said in a Monday news conference. "This is a recipe for propagating structural racism, and it is deeply unfair to the students we serve."
