BOSTON (CBS) — If you were hoping that the Celtics would add Blake Griffin via free agency, you’re going to be pretty disappointed. The 31-year-old, who was bought out by the Detroit Pistons last week, is instead joining that super team in Brooklyn, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski . Griffin has decided to latch on to the Nets, joining forces with Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. Brooklyn currently sits in second place in the Eastern Conference at 24-13, despite having Durant and Irving in and out of the lineup for large stretches of the season. Serena Williams says she understood the ‘pain and cruelty’ suffered by Meghan
(CNN) Tennis superstar Serena Williams says she understands the "pain and cruelty" suffered by Meghan, the wife of Prince Harry, after the Duchess of Sussex told Oprah Winfrey that an unnamed member of the royal family raised the issue of how dark their unborn baby Archie's skin would be while she was pregnant. Empathizing with her friend Meghan, the 23-time grand slam winner wrote on Twitter that she knew "first hand the sexism and racism institutions and the media use to vilify women and people of color to minimize us, to break us down and demonize us. We must recognize our obligation to decry malicious, unfounded gossip and tabloid journalism." There were several "concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born," Meghan told Winfrey. READ: No sponsor? No problem. Coronavirus Cases Increase Globally for First Time in Seven Weeks
The World Health Organization said new coronavirus cases increased globally for the first time in seven weeks, and officials expressed concern that cases could again rise significantly. "We need to have a stern warning for all of us that this virus will rebound if we let it," Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO technical lead for COVID-19, said Monday at a news briefing at the agency's headquarters in Geneva. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the rise in cases occurred in four regions: the Americas, the eastern Mediterranean, Europe and Southeast Asia. He said the development was "disappointing but not surprising" and said part of the spike appeared to be the result of the "relaxing of public health measures." Michael Ryan, director of WHO's emergencies program, said, "Right now, the virus is very much in control" and it was "unrealistic" to think the pandemic might be stopped by the end of the year. The warnings come after a sharp fall of coronavirus cases and deaths in … [Read more...] about Coronavirus Cases Increase Globally for First Time in Seven Weeks
