DALLAS, TX, Jan. 29, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via NEWMEDIAWIRE -- By growing fresh, gourmet-grade shrimp in an indoor environment, Natural Shrimp, Inc. (OTCQB: SHMP) is avoiding significant environmental problems that have plagued other means to grow and harvest shrimp. NaturalShrimp (www.naturalshrimp.com) is producing shrimp economically in an indoor all-natural environment that can be replicated anywhere in the world. Its patented technology (vibro suppression) ensures that harmful organisms cannot destroy the shrimp. Shrimp is the single most consumed seafood in the world, with nine billion pounds eaten annually. More than half of the world’s shrimp is produced in third world countries. Environmentalists have long been concerned that the steady stream of toxic chemicals and antibiotics from these farms, plus organic waste, pollutes groundwater and coastal estuaries. These shrimp farms also suffer with pathogen problems, as major outbreaks of disease spread as … [Read more...] about NaturalShrimp Says Its Method of Growing, Harvesting Shrimp Avoids Major Environmental Issues

California wildfires raising environmental issues for vulnerable GOP
Firefighters may be able to extinguish the wildfires roaring through California within weeks, but the political effect of the blazes could last at least until the Nov. 6 midterm elections. With flames forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee their homes and clouds of smoke hovering over large chunks of the state, California Democrats already are using the disaster to flog GOP House members for their environmental votes. Last week the Democratic group Red to Blue California, which is trying to flip nine Republican-held congressional seats in the state, went on the attack against GOP Rep. Tom McClintock of Elk Grove (Sacramento County). His district stretches from the suburbs of Sacramento south past Yosemite National Park and the Sierra National Forest, where the Ferguson Fire has burned more than 95,000 acres since July 13. The group put out a mailer and a digital ad that slammed McClintock for his voting record on fire-related issues, saying he had backed cuts to the Forest … [Read more...] about California wildfires raising environmental issues for vulnerable GOP
Pale Blue Dot: ‘America first’ policy shouldn’t be applied to environmental issues
Kylie Harrington | Daily Trojan Every once in a while — when I really want to torture myself — I scroll through Scott Pruitt’s Twitter account. Pruitt, the current administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and one of the most inflammatory members of the Trump cabinet, doesn’t seem to care about the environment or its protection. Pruitt is currently under almost a dozen investigations for allegedly taking gifts from lobbyists, violating anti-propaganda laws and misusing federal funds for things like 24-hour security detail and a $43,000 soundproof phone booth installed in his office. On top of that, he also doesn’t think climate change is caused by humans, and rejects the scientific consensus that human-generated carbon dioxide is contributing to global warming. With every action he takes, Pruitt proves that he has little interest in morality, science or environmental protection. Since his induction into office in February 2017, I have kept … [Read more...] about Pale Blue Dot: ‘America first’ policy shouldn’t be applied to environmental issues

Poor People’s Campaign rally in Springfield to focus on poverty and environmental issues
A growing national activist movement called the Poor People’s Campaign will host its first rally in Springfield on Monday, June 4, around environmental issues. Michaelann Bewsee, executive director of Arise for Social Justice in Springfield and one of the chairs of the Massachusetts arm of the Poor People’s Campaign, said the rally would take place at 1 p.m. at Court Square. “We’ll be joined by some folks from Boston and elsewhere in Massachusetts,” Bewsee said Wednesday. “We happen to be working hard on environmental justice issues in Springfield with limited success, I must say.” Bewsee said Springfield was recently named the most challenging place to live with asthma in the country by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and that is directly linked to environmental issues. “These are big issues for us here and I just don’t think enough is being done in Springfield,” Bewsee said. Bewsee added that poor people and … [Read more...] about Poor People’s Campaign rally in Springfield to focus on poverty and environmental issues
