House and Senate Republicans who voted to give $40 billion in additional American taxpayer funding to Ukraine also helped rubber stamp $900 million to fund President Joe Biden’s mass immigration priorities. Late last week, only 57 House Republicans and 11 Senate Republicans voted in opposition to Biden’s $40 billion in additional Ukraine aid. That boondoggle package includes $900 million to fund more immigration from Ukraine even as thousands of Ukrainians pile up at the southern border to get into the U.S. As part of those millions in funds, Ukrainians will be provided with medical services, housing money, and “culturally and linguistically appropriate services.” The package states : For an additional amount for ‘‘Refugee and Entrant Assistance’’, $900,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2023, for carrying out refugee and entrant assistance activities in support of citizens or nationals of Ukraine , or a person who last habitually resided in Ukraine, … [Read more...] about GOP Rubber Stamps Biden’s $900M for More Immigration from Ukraine

Donalds on COVID Bill: Democrats ‘Didn’t Want to Let a Crisis Go to Waste’
ORLANDO, Florida — Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) denounced the partisan $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill, which the House passed last week and the Senate passed Saturday, as a Democrat “wish list” mostly containing items unrelated to immediate coronavirus relief, providing his remarks in an interview with Breitbart News during the Conservative Political Action Conference. Donalds said at the conference just after the House passed the bill last weekend that Democrats “wanted to get their wish list out of” the bill — which they were able to pack with non-coronavirus-related pursuits through a reconciliation process that allowed them to skirt the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster — because “they didn’t want to let a crisis go to waste.” “That’s why they tacked so much onto it, and in order to get some of the Democrat members to vote for this bill, they had to keep putting stuff into it. Let’s just be perfectly clear. That’s what happened,” Donalds explained. “There’s no reason why we … [Read more...] about Donalds on COVID Bill: Democrats ‘Didn’t Want to Let a Crisis Go to Waste’

He added, "Look at me now, I'm aging … [Read more...] about Opinion: Pete Davidson’s ‘SNL’ signoff calls out this raging hypocrisy
Opinion: What a Nobel laureate’s take on Donald Trump reveals about today
Sign up to get this weekly column as a newsletter. We're looking back at the strongest, smartest opinion takes of the week from CNN and other outlets. (CNN) Shortly after Donald Trump was elected President of the United States, Nobel laureate Toni Morrison wrote in The New Yorker: "Unlike any nation in Europe, the United States holds whiteness as the unifying force. Here, for many people, the definition of 'Americanness' is color." Reflecting on efforts -- largely by White men -- to define themselves by sustaining that poisonous definition, Morrison argues that those "who are prepared to abandon their humanity out of fear of black men and women, suggest the true horror of lost status." In Morrison's formulation, fear-driven devotion to racial status is more powerful to many White Americans than even self-interest, shame or any belief in humanity. And it is this reality, that White Americans' anxieties in the face of a changing country have been and continue to be … [Read more...] about Opinion: What a Nobel laureate’s take on Donald Trump reveals about today
Russia presses Donbas attacks as Polish leader praises Kyiv
By ELENA BECATOROS, OLEKSANDR STASHEVSKYI and RICARDO MAZALAN KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia pressed its offensive in eastern Ukraine on Sunday as Poland’s president traveled to Kyiv to support the country’s European Union aspirations, becoming the first foreign leader to address the Ukrainian parliament since the start of the war. Lawmakers gave a standing ovation to President Andrzej Duda, who thanked them for the honor of speaking where “the heart of a free, independent and democratic Ukraine beats.” Duda received more applause when he said that to end the conflict, Ukraine did not need to submit to conditions given by Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Unfortunately, in Europe there have also been disturbing voices in recent times demanding that Ukraine yield to Putin’s demands,” he said. “I want to say clearly: Only Ukraine has the right to decide about its future. Only Ukraine has the right to decide for itself.” Duda’s visit, his second to Kyiv since April, came as … [Read more...] about Russia presses Donbas attacks as Polish leader praises Kyiv
‘What You Don’t Know’: Book For NYC Fifth Graders Lauds AOC, Trashes Religion
A children’s book that reportedly knocks religion and praises Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been distributed to public school libraries, the New York Post reported Saturday. “ What You Don’t Know: A Story of Liberated Childhood, ” written by and illustrated by Anastasia Higginbotham, which reportedly appears on a fifth-grade independent reading list, revolves around a black, “queer” boy named Demetrius struggling to fit in at school and church. At one point in the story, Demetrius’ spirit is depicted meeting a character that appears to be Jesus , who tells him that everyone is invited to love and be loved, including an unnamed white man on the page that appears to resemble Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell . Higginbotham confirms that the character is indeed Sen. McConnell during a book reading on a YouTube video, the New York Post reported . Rick Scott: Biden ‘Slow to React’ — He’s Never Ahead of the Problems
Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that President Joe Biden was “slow to react” to the many problems facing the United States. Partial transcript as follows: BRENNAN: We turn now to Florida Senator Rick Scott. He’s the Republican tasked with winning the Senate majority for the GOP in this year’s midterm elections. And he joins us from Naples, Florida. Good morning to you, Senator. SCOTT: Good morning, Margaret. I think those numbers are consistent with what we’ve seen, that inflation is still the number one issue in the country and the president is slow to react, whether it’s the border, whether it’s inflation, whether it’s gas prices, even Ukraine. I think the expectation is that whoever the president is gets ahead of the problems rather than behind the problem. So I think the election this fall is going to be about inflation. It’s going to be about the effectiveness of the Biden administration. And I think it bodes well for Republicans.
