CLEVELAND, Ohio - You wouldn't know from all the national coverage that LeBron James isn't paying for everything at his new I Promise School in Akron. He's paying for part of it. A good part of it. But it's also a public school within the Akron school district, which means that taxpayers will pay for the bulk of the costs. The exact breakdown of expenses for the new I Promise School is unclear, since the district and the LeBron James Family Foundation are still sorting out final details of their contract. District officials are walking a fine line this week as they try to explain how the new school, which aims to help at-risk students, will work. On the one hand, James and his foundation are making a huge gift to the city and its students to complete a vision James says he has been developing for years. The foundation says it's spending about $2 million for the school's … [Read more...] about Who’s paying for LeBron James’ new I Promise school? LeBron or Akron Public Schools?

The two have also had some impressive duels in the recording booth. On Friday, Soundcloud user Franky Wahoo posted a track the two stars recorded a three-minute song called, “It Ain’t Easy.” The track, which the two recorded during the 2011 NBA lockout, features Durant, then an Oklahoma City Thunder, defending James, who’d just lost in the Finals to the Dallas Mavericks. “I got the money, but that’s the root of all evil. I stayed the same, but it’s changing all the wrong people,” Durant says. “Every hater all the same, I feelin’ like the world is Skip Bayless and I’m LeBron James.” James, who appears on the second verse, follows Durant’s lead, expressing how hard it is to be a … [Read more...] about LISTEN: Kevin Durant and LeBron James team up for a rap record
ENTERTAINMENT 09/13/2018 04:29 am ET The money will go to James’ I Promise School which focuses on at-risk students. By David Barden NBA legend LeBron James and actor Channing Tatum managed to raise $100,000 for the I Promise School by performing a series of dares for Ellen DeGeneres on Wednesday. From drinking a shot of tequila hands-free (who wouldn’t?) to eating a scoop of ice cream covered in Tabasco sauce (no thanks), the pair would stop at nothing to raise funds. The school, which is located in James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio, focuses on students who are at-risk in reading and need additional academic intervention so that they don’t fall behind their classmates. “I know these kids basically more than they know themselves,” James previously said, per The Los Angeles Times. “I walked the same streets. I rode the same bikes on the streets that they ride on. I went through the same emotions.
