He’s now scored five goals since the beginning of the season, joining Eden Hazard as the Premier League top scorer. Watford’s Will Hughes was named “man of the match” for his energetic play-making ultimately leading to creating two chances, including Gray’s goal. Burnley 4, Bournemouth 0 Disaster! No one came close to catching Manchester City in the Premier League last season. City set a league record with 100 points, 19 more than second-place Manchester United. Sports Premier LeagueIt is less than three months since Pep Guardiola celebrated his first Premier League title as Manchester City swept away everything before them, but a new season is already on the starting block. For the first time since the league’s inception in 1992, the transfer window has closed before a ball has been kicked in anger which means managers will not be able to retool their squads at least until January.Conversely, however, European clubs could still lure players away from the Premier League as the transfer window for other European league shuts at the end of the month. While that adds a layer of intrigue to the remainder of the summer, it is unlikely to bother City, who have had a relatively subdued summer for their standards. The defending champions have signed Riyad Mahrez for a club record fee $77.4 million but were pipped to the post by Chelsea in the race to sign Jorginho, which leaves Guardiola perhaps one midfielder short of where he would like his … [Read more...] about Premier League Odds: Can Anyone Stop Manchester City from Retaining the Title?

White Special to The Times Published 4:22 p.m. UTC Jul 27, 2018 The BOCA FC Knights ended their season with a 1-0 loss to Lafayette-based Cajun Soccer in the Gulf Coast Premier League semifinal matchup at Mesmer Stadium on Thursday night. The lone goal was a cross from Joshua Hughes to Jakob Goodwin as the question on whether Hughes was offside when he received the pass in the box. The discussion of the goal even carried over after the end of the game as BOCA players discussed with referees on the sidelines. That was no excuse according to player-coach Larry Guerrero. “We picked the wrong time to play one of our worst games of the year,” Guerrero said. “Even though we didn’t have a great game, we were still in it. It was still 0-0 late in the game. Unfortunate call that we thought was offside but the referee said that it wasn’t. That’s soccer sometimes. We had our … [Read more...] about BOCA FC Knights fall in Gulf Coast Premier League semifinal
