Through CBS 2’s commitment to Working for Chicago, we dig into problems Illinoisans face when applying for and receiving unemployment benefits. Crews Search For Possible Drowning Victim In Stockton Waterway
STOCKTON (CBS13) – Crews on Saturday are searching for a possible drowning victim in a Stockton waterway. According to the Stockton Police Department, fire personnel is searching for the individual in McLeod Lake near Weber Avenue and Commerce Street. Police said the individual was seen swimming in the water and they never returned to the surface. Police said crews have been on the scene for about two hours. This is a developing story. Body Of Drowning Victim Located In Stockton After Hours-Long Search
STOCKTON (CBS13) – A dive team located the body of a drowning victim in a Stockton waterway, authorities said on Sunday. Stockton police said reports came in at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday of a man seen swimming in McLeod Lake from Weber Avenue toward Weber Point and never resurfacing. His body was located at around 10:45 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was only described as a Hispanic man in his 30s. His identity was not released. John Hickenlooper defeats Cory Gardner in U.S. Senate race
Democratic challenger John Hickenlooper defeated Republican U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner on Tuesday in a closely watched contest that will help determine which party controls Congress next year. Hickenlooper had 54% percent of the vote with 85% of ballots counted Tuesday, and Gardner had 44%. Three other candidates split the remaining votes. It’s unclear so far whether Democrats will win enough seats nationwide to take over control of the U.S. Senate. “Tonight, your message is loud and clear: It’s time to put the poisonous politics of this era behind us and come together to move forward,” Hickenlooper said in a victory speech on Facebook Live shortly after 8 p.m. “Clearly, people are saying it’s time to turn the page.
