LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Two workers are in critical condition after an apparent explosion involving electrical equipment in the loading dock of the Los Angeles World Trade Center in downtown. Witnesses reported an explosion, which apparently involved electrical equipment, at about 9:15 a.m. at 360 S. Flower Street. Two men were taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Nine-time NBA All-Star and Los Angeles native Russell Westbrook announced Wednesday he is founding a new charter school in his hometown. The 32-year-old said he is launching the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Academy in South L.A., a middle and high school, grades 6-12. “I plan on making sure that you guys, future kids, come in, have access to all the resources you need to be successful,” Westbrook said in a video posted to his Twitter account. LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – At least two people were killed and another three critically injured in a crash in the Vermont-Vista neighborhood of South Los Angeles early Thursday morning. Feb. 25, 2021. (CBSLA) The two-vehicle crash occurred sometime before 5:20 a.m. in the 400 block of West Century Boulevard, near Figueroa Street. Raging Fire Destroys Commercial Building In South LA
SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – A large fire completely destroyed a commercial building in Historic South-Central Los Angeles early Thursday morning, and heavily damaged a second building. Feb. 25, 2021, (Citizen App) The fire broke out a little before 1 a.m. in the 3700 block of South Grand Avenue, near the 110 Freeway and east of Exposition Park. CU Buffs’ La’Vontae Shenault picks up another traffic case, this time in Boulder County
University of Colorado Boulder football player La’Vontae Shenault was ticketed for speeding and driving with a revoked license in Boulder County this month, the third traffic case the Buffs’ wide receiver has picked up less than a year. Shenault, 19, was ticketed for driving 25 to 39 mph over the limit and driving with a restrained license on Feb. 1 by Colorado State Patrol in Boulder County, according to online court records. Online court records show Shenault was reportedly driving 93 mph in a 65 mph area on U.S. 36 between Boulder and Denver. Because his license was restrained for an alcohol-related case, Shenault could be facing up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 on the driving with a restrained license charge, a misdemeanor. The case is set for an advisement hearing on March 4, according to online court records. Shenault already had a pending careless driving case in Douglas County and a pending DUI case in Larimer County .
