In May of 2017, the New York Times linked Donald Trump to the plot of the 1962 film “The Manchurian Candidate” because of his unnatural Russophilia tendencies. Significant time has elapsed since 2017 and the Monday meeting and news conference with Russian President Putin re-opens the association. Neither Trump nor Putin would discuss what compromising material (kompromat, in Russian) Russia has over the US president. Donald MintzSunnyvale What do you think about this? This is coming from me, a local columnist in Dallas, Texas, so basically I bring no authority, expertise or gravitas to the subject and shouldn’t even be opening my mouth. My excuse is a column I read on the op-ed page of The Dallas Morning News this morning, but between you and me, it’s just an excuse.Mark Davis wrote that President Donald Trump handled Vladimir Putin cleverly and well in this week’s summit: “The pandering toward Putin is basic Art of the Deal, designed to elicit future behaviors Trump believes are more important than any benefits of public scapegoating.”But from reading Davis, I went straight to my daily mainline injection of CNN, where everyone was telling me that Trump’s performance in Helsinki was prima facie evidence he has been compromised by the Russians. The exact nature of the compromise was left a little ambiguous, as usual, as if it’s too obvious to merit explicit recitation. But I knew what they meant. It’s … [Read more...] about Art of the Deal, Kompromat, Elaborate Theories. Can’t He Just Be an Idiot?

The tawdriest detail in former FBI director James B. Comey’s new memoir offers the perfect mix of sex, spies and kink — call it “Fifty Shades of le Carré” for the Trump era. Comey describes President Trump’s obsession with uncorroborated intelligence suggesting that Russia had compromising material on him — specifically including footage of him watching prostitutes urinate on each other in a Moscow hotel room in 2013, while Trump was in town for the Miss Universe pageant. The president has repeatedly denied the allegation — which emerged in early 2017 with news reports of a dossier funded by political opponents of his — and there currently exists no credible evidence to verify the claim. White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders forcefully attacked the entire dossier in a news conference Friday. And yet. Many are debating just how much credence to give to this most explosive and lurid of details. This run-of-the-mill … [Read more...] about Real or ‘fake news’? Either way, allegations of lewd tape pose challenge for Trump
POLITICS 04/12/2018 06:35 pm ET “There’s no way I would let people pee on each other around me. No way,” Trump allegedly told Comey. By Lydia O'Connor 2.9k 80 President Donald Trump is just as fixated on the so-called pee tape allegations as the rest of the world is, former FBI Director James Comey writes in his new memoir, according to The Washington Post and the New York Post. According to Comey’s telling in A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership, Trump was obsessive about disproving the most salacious allegations in the infamous intelligence dossier about him: that there is footage of him watching prostitutes urinate in the same Moscow hotel suite that the Obamas had once stayed in. Trump “strongly denied the allegations, asking — rhetorically, I assumed — whether he seemed like a guy who needed the service of prostitutes,” Comey wrote of conversations he had with Trump about the dossier compiled by … [Read more...] about Comey Memoir Claims Trump Was Obsessed With Disproving ‘Pee Tape’ Allegation
