Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow steer Apple to ‘Planet of the Apps’

Have you ever had a great idea for a new app but didn't know how to turn it into a business?Apple found the solution, and is offering to let Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba and Will.i.Am help.  Planet of the Apps is a reality-competition series out Tuesday (midnight ET/9 PT) on the Apple Music streaming service as a tech-savvy blend of Shark Tank and The Voice. The premiere episode is also available free on iTunes. The 10-episode series, releasing a new episode each Tuesday, features the trio, all entertainers and entrepreneurs, along with investor and social-media marketer Gary Vaynerchuk, as advisers to budding business titans hoping to launch the latest app for dating, shopping, fitness tracking and more specialized interests. They're not mere celebrities: Actress Paltrow created lifestyle brand Goop, while Alba co-founded the Honest Company, which sells natural baby and household products. Rapper Will.i.Am has worked for Intel and designed clothing and phone accessories. And Vaynerchuk is a "serial entrepreneur" and investor who runs a digital marketing agency.Their track records signal that "we don’t have to necessarily have super-formal business backgrounds or family members with nepotism to get here," Alba says. "None of us are coders, none of us are engineers, none of us are programmers, but we had these ideas … and our companies were catapulted through technology, (which) gave us access to the world in a way that no other platform would have."Contestants first try to catch the panelists' eye with a 60-second "escalator pitch" as they ride down one into the studio. The advisers vote yes or no — using iPads, naturally — and if one bites, a fuller pitch is made.  (If more than one expresses interest, the contestant chooses among advisers.)The show then documents a six-week incubation period for promising apps, in which developers Continue Reading

Jessica Alba whines about her post-baby body: ‘My breasts are saggy, I’ve got cellulite’

Jessica Alba might want to invest in a new mirror. Her current one clearly isn't doing something right. The "Machete" actress says she hasn't been happy with her body's appearance since giving birth to daughter Honor in 2008. Alba is still willing to play sexy for the camera. (Photo: GQ) "My breasts are saggy, I've got cellulite, my hips are bigger," Alba, 29, told British GQ. She even said she believes "every actress out there is more beautiful than me." But the brown-haired beauty is still willing to show some skin, and appears scantily-clad in the GQ photo spread. You can't tell from this photo, but Alba says she suffers from saggy breasts. (Photo: GQ) Alba, who is married to the equally stunning Cash Warren, made People's best-dressed list last month, where she was dubbed "The Mix Master." Jessica Alba’s ‘Machete’ nude scene was only fantasy, CGI removed underwear worn by actress

It turns out Jessica Alba's nude scene in "Machete" is a literal fantasy. The actress' rep has confirmed the Daily Mail report that Alba shot her revealing shower scene in a bra and underwear that were later digitally removed. "Jessica has been steadfast in her resolve not to appear nude in films from the beginning of her career," Alba's publicist told "The decision to digitally remove the underwear from the shower scene in 'Machete' was one she and Robert Rodriguez made together, which would serve his vision for the film, as well as honor her personal convictions regarding nudity." When the naked photos of Alba recently leaked on the internet, it seemed as though the actress had caved on her previous conviction to never go naked for a movie. As recently as March 2010, Alba told Scarlet magazine, "No, I'll never do a nude scene.  I can act sexy and wear sexy clothes but I can't go naked." She added that her clothed convictions started at a young age while being raised in a strictly Catholic family. "I think I was always very uncomfortable about the way my body developed, and I remember my grandmother would freak out and throw a towel over me if she saw me wearing just a bra and panties." But movie purists are now the ones freaking out over whether or not CGI alteration takes away from the artistry of Robert Rodriguez's film. As producer Germain Lussier asserts, fake nudity could detract from the performance of the actors, taking away the rawness and vulnerability of a naked performance. "There's a huge different between acting naked and just being naked," he said on Join the Conversation: Continue Reading

Jessica Alba ‘sorry’ for shark posters

A red-faced Jessica Alba is apologizing for plastering shark-conservation posters around Oklahoma City - a stunt that sparked a police investigation."I got involved in something I should have had no part of," the "Fantastic Four" actress said in a statement Tuesday."I realize that I should have used better judgment and I regret not thinking things through before I made a spontaneous and ill-advised decision to let myself get involved with the people behind this campaign."Her mea culpa came after police opened a probe into the giant shark posters and online photos that showed Alba with buckets of glue at the vandalism sites."A number of shark posters were placed around downtown with heavy-duty glue, making them darn near impossible to get off," Sgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police told the Daily News on Tuesday."It's basically a vandalism case that could involve our new tagger laws," he said. "It will be assigned to a detective, and then we'd send it to the District Attorney's office."Knight said the 3-by-2-foot posters of great white sharks were slapped on a bridge, electrical boxes and on a United Way billboard. He didn't to identify Alba by name, but a police report clearly describes the photos of Alba that later appeared on a blog for the conservation group White Mike.A city worker found the group online, and a local news Web site called posted the Alba photos Monday. The photos then disappeared from the White Mike blog.Alba is in Oklahoma to film the psychological thriller "The Killer Inside Me." Join the Conversation: Continue Reading

Jessica Alba inadvertantly shows off her tattoo

Jessica Alba isn't so perfect after all. In addition to starring in the Razzie-nominated "Love Guru," the new hot mama aped trashy college girls everywhere when she recently displayed her pink bow "tramp stamp."According to, a "tramp stamp" refers to the "tattoo above a woman's a- crack." But Alba (both photos below) isn't alone with her permanent decoration - other celebrities have ill-advised body art as well. Christina Ricci sports a muddy bouquet of sweet peas on her tailbone, while the completely classy Brooke Hogan has the word "Redemption" inked above her bum. However, we give props to surprise tramp stamper Brad Pitt. The seemingly random horizontal lines and dashes etched onto his back are reportedly a diagram of the New Orleans levee system that failed during Hurricane Katrina. Leave it to the Sexiest Man Alive to take it from trashy to tasteful! Join the Conversation: Continue Reading
