After star-crossed year, Jennifer Lopez & Co. bare watching

It took less than five seconds for the Golden Globes to make it clear that this year, they were going to put on a show. Then they did. A year after the winners’ names were read at a bare podium because of the writers’ strike, last night’s big-name lineup was all but flashing in neon. Not that it had to. The first presenter, Jennifer Lopez, wore a dress whose top consisted of two billowing, shimmering bands of gold. Never in TV history has the title of a show been more dramatically underscored. There was a lightness, almost a giddiness to the night, even when no one seemed amused at Sasha Baron Cohen’s joke about Madonna downsizing Guy Ritchie to save a few bucks in a bad economy. The Globes may not have the artistic weight of the Oscars, but they understand a snappy parade of stars and awards - give or take Kate Winslet. The one moment that could have changed the mood, the expected victory for the late Heath Ledger, became a crisp, quick tribute. This being Infamous Liberal Hollywood, a few political moments slipped in, with Laura Linney talking about the “amazing changes” she expects under Barack Obama and Tracy Morgan joking that he’s “the face of post-racial America.” But mostly the Globes were just happy to be back - even if the most exceptional performance of the night came from Lisa Rinna of the TV Guide Channel on the pre-show red carpet. She asked Ryan Kwanten of “True Blood” what it’s like to play a vampire. He replied, “I don’t actually play a vampire.” She asked Kevin Connolly what was his breakthrough role. “ ‘Entourage,’ obviously,” he replied, smiling. She asked two other guests if they made a New Year’s resolution, then told them hers. It almost made you wish the cameras had stayed on the red carpet at 8 o’clock so Lisa could interview herself. But Mrs. Anthony was an acceptable consolation Continue Reading

Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez wow inaugural gala

WASHINGTON — Latino entertainers Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony graced "la alfombra roja" — the red carpet — at Union Station Sunday to give a Hispanic flair to the inauguration pre-celebration Sunday. They posed quickly for cameras with no visible signs of the marital distress that tabloids have been buzzing about recently. The two singers entertained the crowd at the end of the night. Lopez introduced Anthony after making a pitch for the new president. "Yes we can," she said to the cheering crowd. "We all stood together and said 'Yes we will.'" Lopez, wearing an electric blue strapless gown, towered over her husband Anthony, who wore pinstripes. Her piled-high updo added a few more inches. The couple said little from the carpet, but Anthony traded a hug with Miami-born Wilmer Valderrama, star of "That '70s Show," as he swiftly moved off the carpet. Valderrama actively promoted registration and voting among young Latinos during the presidential election. "All of us performers, not until this election did we really understand what we could do," Valderrama said. Though focus of the night was entertainment, the music quickly mixed with politics. Tony Plana, who plays Betty's father in the television series "Ugly Betty," said he was ecstatic about President-elect Barack Obama's victory. He said an Obama administration could improve the lives of all minorities. But he also said Hispanics deserved a better spot on the inaugural festivities list. "It's a concern this event tonight is not an official event of the administration. It's a little sad for me Latinos had to organize their own event," Plana said. He said he hoped it did not mean Hispanics would be relegated to a back seat. The event was organized by the National Council of La Raza and other Hispanic organizations. "American Idol" runner up David Archuleta kicked off the night with "The Star-Spangled Banner" and he was quickly followed with music by War. Members of Congress Continue Reading

D.C. makeover? Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, more stars go conservative for inauguration

Incoming! Stars are streaming into Washington for the inauguration, but something looks a little ... off. Beyonce Knowles swapped her usual skintight leotards and bodysuits for a simple coat and leggings at Sunday's "We Are One" inaugural concert. Jennifer Lopez dropped her flashy Golden Globes gown for a conservative, yet classic, strapless Marchesa dress to attend the Latino Inaugural Gala. Lindsay Lohan pranced down the red carpet Sunday night at a Declare Yourself bash decked out in a demure (for her) T-shirt dress, simple ponytail and big smile. What's with the conservative gear? They've been D.C.-ified! "D.C. has rarely been a city to take fashion risks," explains Erin Hartigan, Washington, D.C., editor of "With our most famous and prominent women working as elected officials and diplomats, the status quo is skirt suits and pantyhose." In a city where brains often take precendence over beauty, attention-grabbing fashion is usually viewed as a big no-no. And most stars have taken note. "The point is just not to be overly provocative and not overly sexual," says style expert Christopher Hopkins, author of "Staging Your Comeback." "We have a climate that doesn't lend itself to too much glitz and too much cleavage," he said. Those who dare venture outside the dress mold often have to deal with the fallout.  (Remember the big furor over Condoleezza Rice's sexy spike-heeled boots? We thought so.) "When people are promoting a message in politics or ideologies, they don't want to be upstaged by a fashion faux pas," says Hartigan. Meanwhile Hopkins cites peer pressure as the reason for the geographically-influenced willingness to cover up."Celebrities are just like everyone else - they generally want to dress for the fashion climate," he says. "It's a matter of being appropriate and not wanting to draw bad tabloid fodder."D.C. may be conservative now, Hartigan says, but she has high Continue Reading

More kids, if Marc Anthony shares the Jennifer Lopez’s load

Jennifer Lopez is ready for kids again ... just as soon as she’s sure her marriage is stable. Although J.Lo isn’t currently pregnant (we caught her sipping a glass of Champagne at Topshop’s opening), the megastar is gearing up to expand her brood. “I could talk for a year about my kids,” she said afterward at the dinner at Balthazar, adding that the best thing about being a mom is “everything!” Hubby Marc Anthony was more vocal about his desire to have a larger family right away. “I hope [we have more kids on the way] soon!” he told us, earning an enthusiastic nod from his wife of nearly five years. The couple appears to be in perfect harmony. During Wednesday night’s fete, the two even chorused to Jennifer Hudson’s “I Love You I Do.” But insiders say that despite outward appearances, Lopez is desperately trying to save her marriage. “Jennifer is determined to make it work with Marc,” a source close to the couple confides. “But these two have serious, serious issues. Jennifer feels like Marc is holding her career back, and she was sick of his social butterfly mentality while she stayed at home with the twins. There are times when she’s had it, and close to ending it. She’ll throw down her ring and say, ‘That’s it.’ But when Marc realizes he’s about to lose her, he comes right back to Mommy. She enhances his life — she’s a huge star and good for him, and he does love her. And really, all their fighting makes for some fiery passion in the bedroom.” And while J.Lo has always wanted a big family, she isn’t ready to make that commitment until she’s certain she and Marc will last. “She wants to make sure her marriage is secure before she has more kids,” says the pal. “Jennifer needs to ascertain that Marc will assume his half of the parental responsibility. “She will Continue Reading

"I embrace who I am," Lopez told the mag. "I feel sexy, I feel youthful, I feel pretty sometimes, sometimes I feel not pretty, you know what I mean?" she added. Despite her personal hangups, Lopez is known for being a showstopper on every red carpet she walks, event she appears at, and in her work in film, TV, and music. To stay on top of all that she does, the "Booty" singer isn't shy about breaking a sweat with intense workout regime and eating healthy. "I think a healthy body image comes from being the best you, not competing with anybody else," she said. "You know, I'm not a 6-foot tall model … I'm not a size 2. Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus leave underwear behind at Met Gala

Several stars seemed to be missing an outfit staple at the 2015 Met Gala — their underwear. Jennifer Lopez walked the carpet in a skintight gown, putting one of her biggest assets on display, her derriere. The star let the Versace gown do the talking, pairing the beautifully beaded gown with simple accessories. Kim Kardashian also ditched the undergarments, going commando in a gorgeous floor-length Roberto Cavalli piece, but it was Beyoncé's bare bottom that stole the show. The "Drunk in Love" singer showed up four hours late for the red carpet, but her Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci gown made up for her fashionably tardy arrival. Miley Cyrus and the daughter of Lenny Kravitz, Zoe Kravitz, released a new music video Monday titled "B---h," donning just their tighty-whities, but when they arrived to the 2015 Met Gala they appeared to have tossed their undergarments. The "Wrecking Ball" singer's studded dress had major cutouts up the sides, leaving no room for anything underneath. ON A MOBILE DEVICE? WATCH THE VIDEO HERE. Continue Reading

Jennifer Lopez shows lots of skin for the Billboard Music Awards 2015 red carpet

The latest red carpet fashion trend is going nearly nude. Super stars such as Jennifer Lopez have been dressing in skintight see-through dresses, with strategically placed pieces of fabric that makes them look stunning. Lopez, who presented at the Billboard Music Awards 2015, rolled up at the red carpet with a white and silver embellished gown that didn't cover much of her fit body. The 45-year-old also wore a red see-through dress last week at the Met Gala that only covered her breasts and lower private areas. Lopez told the media that she was attending the award ceremony 'solo' and that she was looking forward to her Las Vegas residency, which she announced last Tuesday. "We're going to do an amazing show," the "Jenny from the Block" singer said about her upcoming performances. "[It’ll be] High energy what you know from my stage performances." The international superstar is getting ready to finish her run as a judge on Fox's hit show "American Idol," which is coming to an end after its 15th season. "It was such a great experience for me," Lopez said about missing Idol. "I love the people I love the journey and I love getting to know the kids every year. It's an amazing thing." Continue Reading
