Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James walk into Barclays Center. What sounds like the makings of a bad dad joke could be a dream come true if LeBron ever forced his way to Brooklyn via trade, and “The King” got the trade wheels turning when he suggested he’d love an opportunity to play with the two Nets’ stars on social media. It’s fun to dream about and even more fun to simulate on NBA 2K22. In reality, the cost of the Nets doing business with the Lakers would be way too steep. And unrealistic. A deal involving LeBron would signal a massive failure for a Lakers franchise that went all-in on his talents four years ago, which paved the way for the team to win an NBA title in the Orlando bubble in 2020. As bad as the Lakers were last season — they failed to qualify for the Play-In Tournament with a roster headlined by three future Hall of Famers — all indications point to Russell Westbrook’s departure from the team being far more likely than a deal involving LeBron. … [Read more...] about What would it take for the Nets to make a fairytale trade for LeBron James?
French Stewart is selling his sunny Los Angeles bungalow for $1,985,000. The “3rd Rock From the Sun” actor had purchased the place in 2010 for $1.06 million. If it sells for full price, he’ll see a modest upside. Of course, any potential profit doesn’t take into account the funds he spent on a recent renovation. Built in 1919, the compact 1,523-square-foot home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It offers a blend of charming original elements with modern amenities, all in a stylish white palette. Many of the rooms have some form of built-in storage. There's a stacked washer and dryer in one of the baths, and one of the bedrooms is currently in use as an office. The dining room features original hardwood flooring and French doors, which open to the back patio. The finished garage could be used as a gym, art studio, or guest room. As you enter the front door, you'll see arched doorways, built-ins, and moldings. The living room comes with built-in shelves and a … [Read more...] about ‘3rd Rock From the Sun’ Star French Stewart Lists L.A. Bungalow for $2M
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) — Sen. Amy Klobuchar visited the Minnesota National Guard’s 133 Airlift Wing in St. Paul Sunday to push for more help to maintain transport planes used by the guard. The Airmen fly the C-130 Hercules, and Klobuchar says she is working to get more funds to take care of those planes. Col. James D. Cleet, wing commander of the 133rd Airlift, says the planes need more attention as they get older. (credit: CBS) “They’re harder to get parts for, they’re harder to maintain, and my maintenance officer … is spending more and more time keeping these [the C-130 Hercules] in the air,” Cleet said. “They just need more TLC.” The C-130s have been used to help with floods in Minnesota, as well as on military missions across the world. Recently, Klobuchar was able to secure funding for upgrades to their propellers. … [Read more...] about Sen. Klobuchar Pushing To Help Modernize Minnesota National Guard’s Fleet

Republican candidates who have earned former President Donald Trump’s much-coveted endorsement are 81-3 in midterm primary races following 23 victories and two losses in last week’s contests in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Idaho. Pennsylvania The much-anticipated primary for the Republican Senate nomination in Pennsylvania between Trump-endorsed candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz and businessman David McCormick remains too close to call and is likely headed for a recount. After weeks at a two-year low, COVID cases are on the rise again in some countries. In the United States, there were 100,000 daily new infections, on average–up from 30,000 in mid-March. The trend is intensifying an important debate in epidemiological circles. What’s the best strategy for preventing catastrophic mass death from the worst possible new COVID variants ? New restrictions? New vaccines? New therapies? A mix of the three? Whatever consensus takes shape could guide us into the pandemic’s fourth year. But there’s a catch, of course. Public-health costs money. And in the world’s richest country, the United States, a few right-wing politicians are doing their damndest to make sure no new money is available to speed up development, production and distribution of new vaccines and therapies. Vaccine development is stalling. China is still pushing locally-made vaccines that don’t work very well. The leading Western vaccine-manufacturers are focusing on developing boosters … [Read more...] about The Massive Screwup That Could Let COVID Bypass Our Vaccines
