At least one Mesa County Sheriff’s deputy shoots man Sunday
At least one Mesa County Sheriff’s deputy shot a man Sunday morning during what police believed was an ongoing dispute between the man and a woman, according to the Grand Junction Police Department. The incident started around 10:49 a.m. when someone called 911 to report that a vehicle was swerving on Interstate 70 business loop and the people inside the vehicle appeared to be arguing, police said. Not long after that, deputies spotted a vehicle that matched the caller’s description near the 400 block of Coronado Court. They spoke to a witness who said a man had just pulled a woman into a home and that she “appeared to be in distress.” The deputies went to the home but no one came to the door, so they forced their way inside. They found a boy and took him out of the home. Then, at least one deputy shot the man. Police provided no details around what led to the shooting.
