TOPANGA (CBSLA) – The search is underway for a driver who struck and killed a woman in Topanga Wednesday night. March 3, 2021. (CBSLA) The woman was struck in the 4200 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, near the Woodland Park Estates neighborhood, just after 7:30 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol. They also announced some big promotions, one of them which is pretty remarkable, especially in honor of Women’s History Month. Firefighter Kari Burnham got promoted to lieutenant. She’s one of only five women in the bureau, and her position makes her the highest-ranking woman in the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire. San Diego Woman Sues GoFundMe Campaign Creator Over Starbucks Barista Fundraiser
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – A woman has filed a lawsuit again the creator of a GoFundMe campaign that raised tens of thousands of dollars for a Starbucks barista in San Diego who went viral after asking her to mask up. The controversy sparked last June when a barista named Lenin asked customer and plaintiff Amber Giles to wear a mask in the store. She refused and left. Take Our Poll Giles then posted a photo of the barista to Facebook which read, “Meet Lenen (sic) from Starbucks who refused to serve me cause I’m not wearing a mask. Next time I will wait for cops and bring a medical exemption.” A Facebook post from June 2020 after a Starbucks barista in San Diego, Calif., refused to serve a customer who wouldn’t wear a mask.
