The wall. Say those words and you need say no more. There is only one wall on America’s mind. It was even the protagonist in a White House reality show. The TV ratings were boffo! Candidate Donald Trump vowed to build the wall on the Mexican border if elected, and has had only minimal success. The migrant caravans from Central America refocused attention on its absence at key crossing points. But the wall has grown into something larger than itself. It is the ultimate symbol of Trumpism to both supporters and opponents. To supporters, the wall, combined with better trade deals, is synonymous with America First. The promise to build barriers for much of the 2,000-mile border is key to Trump’s plan to end decades of mass entry by illegal immigrants, some of them violent, and stem the flow of narcotics. The president believes national security is not possible without border security and border security is not possible without the wall. History says he’s right, … [Read more...] about Why hasn’t someone made a GoFundMe for Trump’s wall?

You didn't go out to vote - that's the only way it could happen.Twitter users also commented that the audience visible on screen during the rally at 12,000-seat Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark appeared bored and unresponsive to Trump's speech, and possibly as a result, as The Huffington Post reported, "several people standing behind Trump were replaced on camera as the evening went on"."I don't even bring it up because I view it as something that they like to use the impeach word, impeach Trump".Trump is probably correct that a Democratic House is more likely to impeach him than the current Republican-controlled one, but while there have been some calls for impeachment among the liberal grassroots, there's little evidence that Democratic leaders would pursue it at this point.Trump has shown increasing concern about the stakes for Republicans and, by extension, himself in the elections that will determine … [Read more...] about Donald Trump tells supporters ‘it’s your fault’ if he gets impeached
How football builds better kids Bronx: Manish Mehta’s Jan. 21 column could only have been written by someone who has never coached youth football and has not seen a youth football game (“Tackling not child’s play”). Am I right? If Mehta had coached youth football he would appreciate the camaraderie players build between each other and coaches. He would also be aware of the self-confidence, courage, discipline and respect for others that it fosters. He recommends doing away with youth tackle football, which would take away thousands of role models and father figures for tens of thousands of youth, many of whom do not otherwise have such persons in their lives. Wow! His article also compares pro football to youth football, which is grossly unfair. Pro players are mostly over 200 pounds and run a 4.5-second 40-yard dash. Youth players average 8 years old and run 40 yards in about 9 seconds. Pro players are blasting each other because their jobs are on the … [Read more...] about Readers sound off on youth football, impeachment and Uber
