LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — A Los Angeles police officer and two other men have been charged with operating an illegal gambling operation, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Friday. Officer Robert Felix, Francisco Martin Del Campo and Gabriel Martin Del Campo have been accused of orchestrating an operation where participants “placed high-dollar bets on the outcome of the National Football League’s Super Bowl,” LAPD said in a statement. The California Department of Justice earlier this month filed the charges against the three men following an “extensive” investigation by LAPD’s Special Operations Division, the state’s Bureau of Gambling Control and the California Alcohol Beverage Control, according to LAPD. Felix, a 13-year veteran of the force, was last assigned to the Transit Services Division, the department said. He has since been assigned to home duty with no police powers, though LAPD said it would not move forward with its internal investigation until Felix was … [Read more...] about LAPD Officer, 2 Others Charged In Illegal Gambling Operation

Illegal Alien Accused of Murdering His Neighbor After Suing Police for Including Him on Gang Database
An illegal alien stands accused of murdering his neighbor in the sanctuary jurisdiction of Chicago, Illinois, after suing the city’s police department for including him in a “gang database” of suspects. Luis Pedrote Salinas, a 30-something illegal alien, has been arrested and charged after allegedly murdering his next-door neighbor, 41-year-old Francisco Zamora, in the victim’s home this month. According to authorities, Zamora was walking into his Chicago home as Salinas stood in front of him and shot him at point-blank range in the head. Salinas was so close to Zamora when he shot him, authorities said, that gunpowder was found around the entrance of the victim’s home. Later, authorities said Zamora’s wife and daughter found his body. Zamora’s son told authorities he looked out a window of their home and saw a man who resembled Salinas leaving the scene of the crime. Soon after, when authorities went to interview him, Salinas was seen with a gun and injured three Chicago … [Read more...] about Illegal Alien Accused of Murdering His Neighbor After Suing Police for Including Him on Gang Database
House Republicans Call for Investigation of Potential Taxpayer-Funded Benefits for Illegals in New York
Reps. Jason Smith (R-MO) and James Comer (R-KY) called Friday for an investigation over concerns the state of New York may be funneling federal tax dollars to benefit illegal aliens. Cuomo, along with New York state Democrats, negotiated a $2.1 billion fund that would allow 187,000 illegal aliens and 87,00 felons to potentially receive taxpayer-funded unemployment benefits that mirror state and federal benefits. The fund came as the result of the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion coronavirus package, the American Rescue Plan. Comer, the ranking member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, and Jason Smith, the ranking member of the House Budget Committee, noted that the payments to illegal immigrants and the funding New York received through the coronavirus package raise concerning questions. They wrote: The $2.1 billion price tag of this fund is quite peculiar. The $1.9 trillion spending plan enacted last month allocated monetary relief to states using a new biased formula that … [Read more...] about House Republicans Call for Investigation of Potential Taxpayer-Funded Benefits for Illegals in New York
Leaked Illegal Immigration Stats Are ‘Undeniable’ Proof Biden’s Policies Caused Border Crisis, Immigration Experts Say
President Joe Biden’s immigration policies undeniably contributed to border agents apprehending a record number of migrants in March, Heritage Foundation immigration experts said Friday. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reportedly encountered over 171,000 illegal migrants in March 2021, a 400% increase compared to March of 2020, according to preliminary figures reported by The Washington Post. Heritage researchers Lora Ries and former Acting CBP Director Mark Morgan criticized the Biden administration for not acknowledging the increase in the number of migrants arriving at the southern border as a crisis and instead calling it a “seasonal phenomenon.” “We have a crisis on the border, even though the Biden administration still refuses to acknowledge it. Today’s numbers are just more evidence of this undeniable reality — and proof that President Biden’s policies are driving this crisis,” Reis and Morgan said in a joint statement. Illegal migrants use a road on private land … [Read more...] about Leaked Illegal Immigration Stats Are ‘Undeniable’ Proof Biden’s Policies Caused Border Crisis, Immigration Experts Say
