A federal appeals court panel ruled Tuesday that House Democrats are entitled to review Donald Trump's tax returns for 2015 to 2020, rejecting several legal arguments by the former president, who has sought for years to keep his financial records private. The decision by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit was a victory for the House Ways and Means Committee, whose chairman, Rep. Richard E. Neal, D-Mass., first requested in 2019 that the Internal Revenue Service turn over copies of Trump's tax returns to the committee. The Treasury Department initially declined, and the issue has been tied up in litigation ever since. The former president has a week to appeal the panel's ruling, including asking the full appellate court to hear the case, before the judgment takes effect. Trump's attorney Cameron T. Norris, who is handling the appeal, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., applauded the … [Read more...] about House can view Trump’s tax records, appeals court rules

Zero House Republicans to Vote for ‘Inflation Reduction’ Act
House Republicans are planning to whip the vote against the “Inflation Reduction” Act with zero GOP defections — to force the Democrats to “own” the massive spending bill. Republicans are working to make sure all of their members are in Washington, DC to cast their vote on the bill in person, and intend to pressure Democrats to do the same — to go on record with their position in person, a senior House Republican staffer told Breitbart News. “We’re going to make sure that we have everybody in town voting, so that if these Democrats want to vote to raise taxes, during a recession, they’ll have to go on record to do it,” the staffer told Breitbart. The GOP is also looking to highlight the more egregious items in the massive spending bill, using it as a cudgel against Democrats. “I think the big fight is just going to be making them own the bill. I think this bill is going to be their own worst enemy. When you look at doubling the size of the IRS, tripling the size of the EPA, … [Read more...] about Zero House Republicans to Vote for ‘Inflation Reduction’ Act
China Mocks ‘Selfish Child’ Nancy Pelosi over China Praise Gaffe
China’s state-run Global Times on Wednesday pounced on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) mistakenly stating “China is one of the freest societies in the world” when she meant to say Taiwan. There was some black comedy to be found in the communist newspaper’s high dudgeon that anyone would dare insult China as being “free.” Pelosi delivered the gaffe during an interview with NBC’s Today show on Tuesday. Chinese propagandists were hardly the only ones to notice Pelosi defending her trip to Taiwan as “only about saying China is one of the freest societies in the world.” “Don’t take it from me, that’s from Freedom House,” she added. Freedom House , of course, would never dream of characterizing Communist China as one of the freest societies in the world. China’s current ranking from the human rights organization stands at 9 points out of 100, a certified “Not Free” rating that positions China as one of the worst tyrannies on Earth. China managed the … [Read more...] about China Mocks ‘Selfish Child’ Nancy Pelosi over China Praise Gaffe

Democrats push ahead with Manchin-Schumer spending bill despite lack of knowledge on fiscal implications
close Video Inflation Reduction Act will make inflation 'much, much worse': Stephen Moore Former Trump economic adviser Stephen Moore spells out his criticisms for Democrats' Inflation Reduction Act set to pass after a House vote. NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles! House Democrats appear determined to forge ahead with the Manchin-Schumer social spending and taxation plan despite their lack of knowledge on the fiscal implications of the legislation. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), a nonpartisan agency that analyzes the impact of legislation on the budget, it will be "weeks" before an updated analysis can be completed on the bill, officially called the Inflation Reduction Act . "Given the scope of the amendments to title I, Committee on Finance, CBO expects that it will be a few weeks before we can fully analyze and estimate those budgetary effects, at which point we will provide a complete cost estimate … [Read more...] about Democrats push ahead with Manchin-Schumer spending bill despite lack of knowledge on fiscal implications
Liz Cheney’s Net Worth Grew More than 600% During Her Time in Office
Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY) net worth ballooned from an estimated $7 million when she first took office in 2017 to possibly more than $44 million in 2020, according to analysis from the Center for Responsive Politics and her most recent financial disclosure forms. Depending on where she falls in the ranges in her latest financial disclosure forms, that could represent as much as a 600 percent increase in her net worth in just a few short years in Congress–a massive boom for an already-independently wealthy political scion of the powerful Cheney family which counts among its most powerful her father, former Vice President of the United States Dick Cheney. During Cheney’s first term in office, from 2017 to 2018, her net worth grew from the 71st ($7,036,013) to the 24th ($14,710,513) wealthiest member in the U.S. House of Representatives, the Center for Responsive Politics analysis shows. Since then, Cheney’s net worth has continued to grow–perhaps significantly. According to her … [Read more...] about Liz Cheney’s Net Worth Grew More than 600% During Her Time in Office
Hell Week: How Trump’s Problems All Converged at Once
With the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago this week, former President Donald Trump is at one of his lowest moments since he left office. After fighting off a subpoena for half a year, Trump was finally forced to testify on Wednesday at a closed-door deposition with New York Attorney General Letitia James over allegations of bank and insurance fraud at his family company—a civil case which could force it to close shop. He pleaded the Fifth, still a self-incriminating tactic for a man who, during his 2016 presidential campaign, once declared: “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?” While the move may spare him of criminal liability, it will only bolster the AG’s case in civil court, where staying silent can legally be perceived as damning evidence of its own. The prospect of another long and damaging trial is also hanging over the Trump Organization and the ex-president’s former right-hand money man, Allen Weisselberg. According to Duncan Levin, an attorney … [Read more...] about Hell Week: How Trump’s Problems All Converged at Once
SCOTUS Hearing Could Put Kamala Center Stage in 2020 Brawl
The last confirmation hearings for a Supreme Court nominee were a launching pad for Sen. Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. Two years later, the looming confirmation battle for the nation’s highest court could help propel her into the White House. In a year when the word “unprecedented” has been rendered basically meaningless, the California senator’s dual role as both a vice presidential nominee and one of the most prominent members of the Senate Judiciary Committee is a historical first. Progressives are hoping that Harris’ aggressive cross-examination of Brett Kavanaugh during the explosive 2018 hearings investigating allegations of sexual misconduct are a preview of a similar performance in the coming weeks as the panel considers President Donald Trump’s potential third justice on the Supreme Court—this time, under an even brighter spotlight. “There’s really only two political events that capture the attention of the whole country: Supreme Court hearings, and presidential … [Read more...] about SCOTUS Hearing Could Put Kamala Center Stage in 2020 Brawl

close Video Kudlow rips Inflation Reduction Act amid inflation, recession concerns: 'Regulators' paradise' FOX Business host Larry Kudlow joined 'America's Newsroom' to discuss the status of inflation and why he considers the Democrats' spending bill 'paradise' for regulators. NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles! The Democrat-concocted Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) recalls 1996’s "The English Patient." Like the IRA, this film sounded alluring but proved bloated and disappointing. And, eventually, I fell in hate with the most overrated film in motion picture history. The Senate passed this legislative blazing wreck on Sunday -- 51-50. It bears the fingerprints of Democrat Senators Chuck Schumer of New York and Joe Manchin of West Virginia. Their 725-page ruin belies its billing, beginning with its fraudulent title. While Americans reel under 9.1 percent year-over-year inflation, IRA neglects the worst price surge since November … [Read more...] about The Inflation Reduction Act will ramp up inflation, oppress Americans and make them sick and poor
