It’s time to admit it: Prestige television is largely mediocre . It seems good while you’re watching it, but it’s smoke and mirrors—big-name streamers pour millions into new shows, causing style to be mistaken for substance. When you look back months later at a show you thought you enjoyed, can you still name more than three things you loved? Can you ascertain one reason you kept watching, other than, “Eh, I guess since I started it I should see what happens”? A League of Their Own is, remarkably, the antithesis of this “golden age” of televised deception. Remakes aren’t supposed to be good anymore. Ask the 47,000 think pieces about it that have been written in the last 10 years. Admittedly, Hollywood is devoid of new ideas, and would rather guarantee a return on their investments by frankensteining an old project with nothing new to say. But this new series is so surprisingly, refreshingly good. Amazon Prime’s serialized reboot of the beloved 1992 film about the … [Read more...] about The New ‘A League of Their Own’ Is the Rare Home-Run Reboot

WATCH: Democrat Pays to Fly ‘Ha Ha’ Banner over Trump’s Home
A Florida man commissioned a plane to fly a banner reading “Ha ha ha ha ha” over former President Donald Trump’s home on Wednesday following the FBI’s raid. It happened while Trump’s supporters gathered outside the home to protest the FBI’s actions, NBC Miami reported . Thomas Kennedy said he and friends paid $1,800 to have the banner flown near the estate for several hours. On what appeared to be his Twitter page, Kennedy described himself as an organizer, writer, immigrant, and Democrat National Committee member. “It brought me a lot of joy to do so,” Kennedy told the outlet of the stunt, adding he would do it again. In a social media post Wednesday evening, Kennedy shared video footage of the banner in the sky over Mar-A-Lago. “This is how you treat wannabe authoritarians like Trump. You ridicule and mock them,” he wrote: Here is video of our banner saying HAHAHA flying over Mar-a-Lago today. This is how you treat wannabe authoritarians like Trump. Nolte: Not Even the FBI Raid on Trump’s Home Could Save CNN’s Ratings
Imagine you are CNN, and the culmination of six years of lies and hate finally arrives in the form of the corrupt F.B.I. raiding Donald Trump’s home … and your ratings still suck. CNN (a far-left propaganda outlet dedicated to spreading conspiracy theories and political violence) has spent six years manufacturing lies and hate against Trump. CNN has dedicated billions and billions of corporate dollars towards one end: President Trump’s total and complete destruction, a man guilty of nothing more than disagreeing with the left’s sick and fascist worldview. CNN has banked its whole existence on one goal: ruining an innocent man. And yet, when the climax of that years-long campaign of hate and lies finally arrives with that obscene F.B.I. raid, CNN is still humiliated in the ratings. It was Monday evening around 7 p.m. when news first broke of the Biden’s administration’s unprecedented Gestapo tactics against Joe’s likely 2024 re-election rival, and did America tune into CNN, … [Read more...] about Nolte: Not Even the FBI Raid on Trump’s Home Could Save CNN’s Ratings
Vikings keep Cousins out of practice due to illness
EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins was absent from practice Thursday because of an illness, coach Kevin O'Connell said. Cousins was sent home after reporting he wasn't feeling well. O'Connell did not specify the symptoms. He confirmed the Vikings were evaluating Cousins for COVID-19. Minnesota's first exhibition game is Sunday at Las Vegas, so it's possible Cousins would skip the trip considering established starters are not expected to play much, if at all. The coaches were still determining their playing time plan for the game, O'Connell said, but those decisions won't be finalized until Saturday before the flight. Cousins was forced to sit out five days of training camp in 2021 due to the NFL's rules for close contacts to known cases of COVID-19. He was in league protocols for unvaccinated players last season. After testing positive for COVID-19 on Dec. 31, Cousins had to miss the game at Green Bay. The league suspended all coronavirus protocols … [Read more...] about Vikings keep Cousins out of practice due to illness

This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 3 Michigan State has signed coach Tom Izzo to a new deal valued at $6.2 million per season, giving him about $2 million more each year. The school announced the deal Thursday, saying that the five-year rollover contract will need to be approved by its board next month. “Michigan State has been a home to me and my family for 40 years and I’m ecstatic to sign this contract,” said Izzo, who was hired at the school by the late Jud Heathcote as a part-time assistant in 1983. Izzo, 67, who was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016, won a national championship in 2000 and leads all active coaches with eight Final Four appearances. He’s a top-ranked basketball prodigy. But should an 8-year-old be ranked at all?
King Tari Johnson is a 4-foot-8, 91½-pound 8-year-old from Stockton whose mother packs his Looney Tunes lunchbox with ham, salami and cheese sandwiches she cuts into his favorite shapes: stars, footballs and, of course, basketballs. He’s also the future of the NBA. At least, that’s what a couple of websites that track this sort of thing want you to believe. King Tari, with his smooth ballhandling, advanced footwork and deep shooting range, is considered one of the nation’s best third-grade basketball players. If all goes as planned, he could be a household name in, oh, about a decade. As for the near term? King Tari just wants a growth spurt. Of all the potential pitfalls on his path to the NBA, genes might prove his undoing: His father stands 5-10, and his mom is 5-2. “I’m hoping he grows to be at least 6 feet,” said Tari Johnson, King Tari’s dad and personal trainer. “That would definitely help his chances of getting to the league.” King Tari, a giggly, soft-spoken boy who … [Read more...] about He’s a top-ranked basketball prodigy. Prospect Grissom homers in debut, Braves beat Red Sox 8-4
This is a carousel. Use Next and Previous buttons to navigate 14 BOSTON (AP) — Vaughn Grissom was rounding third when it sank in. He had just cleared the Green Monster for his first big league hit, and he gave himself an emphatic clap before finishing his home run trot. “That was like a ‘We made it’ moment, I guess," the Braves' top prospect said after homering in his major league debut to help Atlanta beat the Boston Red Sox 8-4 on Wednesday night. “Like a ‘We did it’ type of feeling." Grissom homered onto Lansdowne Street and then singled and scored another run, and Marcell Ozuna hit a three-run homer to help Atlanta complete a two-game sweep. Kyle Wright earned his league-leading 14th win for the defending World Series champions, who arrived in Boston after losing four of five to the first-place Mets and are now seven games back in the NL East. “We had a rough weekend,” … [Read more...] about Prospect Grissom homers in debut, Braves beat Red Sox 8-4
Francisco Lindor is one of the best players in the league again
As many continue fretting about Francisco Lindor’s batting average — which is also trending upward — the Mets’ indefatigable shortstop has shown up to the ballpark every single day and reclaimed his spot as one of the best all-around players in baseball. Lindor finally gets a break on Thursday, as a Mets’ off day is the only thing that can keep him off the field. Playing virtually without any rest, something that manager Buck Showalter is very fond of reminding people about, Lindor has posted the fourth-most Wins Above Replacement of any position player in the league. With offensive production that’s 32% better than the average player, clockwork defense at the diamond’s most important position and sneaky good base running, Lindor ranks behind the Cardinals’ corner infield duo of Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt for the crown of most valuable player in the league. It will almost certainly not lead to the actual award for Most Valuable Player, but Lindor deserves much more MVP … [Read more...] about Francisco Lindor is one of the best players in the league again
