MARLTON, N.J. (CBS) — Some Evesham Township residents are fighting their school district. They say proposed school bus cuts could jeopardize the safety of their children. While some parents across the region are pushing districts to let their students back into class, parents in Burlington County find themselves battling a local school board over school bus cuts they say will put their children at risk. EU and AstraZeneca fight over vaccine delays while death toll mounts
London (CNN Business) A war of words between the European Union and AstraZeneca escalated on Wednesday as the two sides argued in public over coronavirus vaccine delays that threaten the bloc's fragile recovery from the pandemic . The dispute began on Monday when EU officials said they had been told by AstraZeneca ( AZN ) that the company intended to supply "considerably fewer" doses in the coming weeks than had been agreed because of production problems. The European Commission has ordered 400 million doses on behalf of EU member states and is poised to start rolling them out across the bloc once the vaccine is approved, possibly this week. "Pharmaceutical companies and vaccine developers have moral, societal and contractual responsibilities which they need to uphold," EU Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides told reporters on Wednesday. "The view that the company is not obliged to deliver [vaccines] ... is neither correct nor acceptable." "We are in a … [Read more...] about EU and AstraZeneca fight over vaccine delays while death toll mounts

Senate nears $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill votes after half-day GOP delay
WASHINGTON — The Senate steered on Friday toward a voting marathon on Democrats’ $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill after enduring an extraordinary half-day holdup forced by a Republican foe of President Joe Biden’s top legislative priority. The chamber planned to begin voting around midday on a mountain of amendments, mostly by GOP opponents and virtually all of which were destined to be rejected. That would set the Senate on course toward approving its reworked version of the massive measure, probably over the weekend, and shipping it back to the House so it could whisk the final package to Biden for his signature. Moments after the Senate took up the legislation Thursday, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., forced the chamber’s clerks to read aloud the entire 628-page measure. The exhausting task took the staffers 10 hours and 44 minutes and ended shortly after 2 a.m. EST, with Johnson alternately sitting at his desk and pacing around the mostly empty chamber.
