GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Snow fueled by the Great Lakes fell for a second consecutive day Thursday in western Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, with some communities reporting remarkable amounts and bracing for even more by Friday. Ishpeming recorded 23 inches in one location, while many other areas in the U.P. had a foot or more, the National Weather Service said. READ MORE: Poll Says Michigan Ranks 7th For Overweight Dogs Many schools were closed for a second day, especially in Lower Peninsula counties near Lake Michigan. Winter storm warnings were declared until Friday. The snow has been influenced by the open waters of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. When cold air passes over the relatively warmer water, clouds form and start dropping snow, the weather service explained. “At this point, where Lake Superior’s not ice-covered, it’s still an energy source, and that’s providing an extra kick to the snow development,” said meteorologist Joe Phillips in the Upper … [Read more...] about Winter Storm Warning Extended To Friday As Snow Continues In Western Michigan, Upper Peninsula

KEY WEST (CBSMiami/AP) – A sharp eyed bartender and his boss helped Key West police in finding the two men who reportedly set a fire that damaged the city’s iconic Southernmost Point buoy. Bartender Cameron Briody said a 21-year-old man ordered drinks three times on New Year’s Eve without leaving a tip. He said that made an impression. Before dawn on Jan. 1, just a few hours after a drag queen named Sushi descended to the ground in a giant red shoe for the annual New Year's Eve drop in Key West, Fla., two men dragged a Christmas tree to the island's Southernmost Point monument and set it on fire. As the burning tree torched the beloved landmark, an omniscient webcam streamed live footage of the vandals in the act. By the time the sun rose on New Year's Day, video and stills from the incident were circulating among Key West's local Conch community. Police posted on social media, asking anyone with information to come forward. When he awoke that morning and saw the images, bartender Cameron Briody immediately recognized one of the faces: It was a guy Briody had served on New Year's Eve at Irish Kevin's, a bustling bar on the city's famed Duval Street. The info from Briody helped police track down two men who have now been arrested in connection with the crime. David B. Perkins Jr., 21, of Leesburg, Fla., … [Read more...] about Two men vandalized a Key West landmark. A bartender recognized one of them because he hadn’t tipped.
A Seven-Bedroom Compound in Southwest England $4.4 MILLION (3.25 MILLION POUNDS STERLING) This seven-bedroom property is in the historic village of St. Mawes, on the south shore of Cornwall county, in southwest England. The compound, a collection of converted farm buildings clustered around a gated courtyard, comprises a five-bedroom main residence, a two-bedroom cottage, a two-car garage with an upper-level studio space, and a garage/workshop. Located at the tip of the Roseland Peninsula, on the east bank of the Carrick Roads waterway, St. Mawes is known for its vibrant yachting and sailing community, and its access to one of the deepest natural harbors in the world, said Mark Wilson, the director of H Tiddy Estate Agents, which has the listing. With only about 680 residential properties, St. Mawes has long “had an air of exclusivity,” Mr. Wilson said. This property, which sits on two acres of gardens and lawn, “is a rarity in that you have the privacy, but you’re only a … [Read more...] about House Hunting in Britain: A Restored Farm Compound on Cornwall’s Coast
In 2014, a round, bald, Finnish guy named Ari Kivikangas got slightly internet famous for a show he ran out of his living room. The webcam series was a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week livestream that Kivikangas called “Cyberman.” In Cyberman, Kivikangas just sits around in various stages of undress, sporting a thick, gold chain, sometimes talking about his life, other times burping, farting, and doing nothing much at all. With a few exceptions, for when he’s picking up his epilepsy medicine, or “getting some p*ssy (not often),” as he told VICE in 2014, Cyberman was Kivikangas’ entire life captured on camera. Then, about three years back, Kivikangas gradually stopped streaming. His waning interest, like everything else about his life, is captured online. He would stop, then start back up. Then stop again. He was anxious people weren’t paying attention, that they didn’t want to watch a stranger sleep or eat pizza. In real time, in other words, Kivikangas was confronting an extremely … [Read more...] about Why Is the Most Powerful Man in Hollywood Hiding the Other Trump Tapes?
