(CBS Local Sports)– Professional women’s volleyball is coming to CBS Sports Network this weekend with the introduction of a brand new league called Athletes Unlimited Volleyball. The five week competition takes place in a bubble in Dallas, Texas and features over 40 of the best volleyball players in the world. After a successful run with Athletes Unlimited Softball in the summer of 2020, the same concepts of players picking up individual points, switching teams each week and coaching themselves has been applied to indoor volleyball. The scoring system allows players to earn and lose points individually based on how they do and how their teams perform. Report: Facebook a ‘Hotbed of Child Sexual Abuse Material’ with 20M Incidents
A recent report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children claims that Facebook had 20.3 million reported incidents of child sexual abuse material. In comparison, Pornhub’s parent company MindGeek had only 13,000 reports. Facebook accounted for 95 percent of the incidents in the report. The Daily Beast reports that according to new data from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s (NCMEC) CyberTipline, the vast majority of online child exploitation reports were linked to Facebook. The study found that over 20.3 million reported incidents related to child pornography or trafficking were linked to Facebook. In comparison to the millions of incidents reported on Facebook, Google had 546,704 incidents, Twitter found 65,062, Snapchat reported 144,095, and TikTok found 22,692. Xcel Energy ups ante on cutting greenhouse-gas emissions, pledges 85% reduction by 2030
Xcel Energy-Colorado, the first electric utility in the country to set a goal of being carbon-free, said Wednesday that it will up the ante by pledging to cut its greenhouse-gas emissions 85% by 2030. The new clean energy plan, to be filed with state regulators by the end of March, revises the company’s original goal of cutting the emissions by 80% by 2030. In meeting the target to address climate change, Xcel Energy is proposing to retire its remaining coal plants by 2040. The Comanche 3 coal unit in Pueblo, which was out of operation most of last year, was originally scheduled to close by 2070. One environmental organization said that will still leave Xcel Energy as the only utility in Colorado planning to burn coal beyond 2030. The plan also calls for adding 5,500 megawatts of wind and solar power and battery storage to its system.
