Pollution Checks on Siberia River after Pipeline Fire
MOSCOW - Inspectors will check an underwater pipeline for pollution after it caught fire on a frozen river in Russia's Siberia, federal monitoring service Rostekhnadzor said Sunday. First reports suggest around 700 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (a mixture of propane and butane) could be on site, Rostekhnadzor spokesperson Andrei Vil said on his Telegram account. The pipeline's owner Russian petrochemicals giant Sibur said the gas leak happened Saturday, causing a short fire on the frozen River Ob in the oil-rich Khanty-Mansiysk region in Western Siberia. It happened 44 kilometers (27 miles) from the nearest residential area and there were no "risks for the population and the environment", the company added. But Vil said on Telegram that "statements indicating the absence of risk for the environment raise serious doubts" because of the amounts of liquefied petroleum gas on site. The cause of the leak is still being established, said Sibur. A Sibur regional official … [Read more...] about Pollution Checks on Siberia River after Pipeline Fire
Trump Tears Into Wall Street Journal, Georgia Republicans And Mitch McConnell In Lengthy Statement
Former President Donald Trump blasted a Monday column from the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board in a lengthy statement distributed by his Save America PAC on Thursday. “The Wall Street Journal editorial page continues, knowingly, to fight for globalist policies such as bad trade deals, open borders, and endless wars that favor other countries and sell out our great American workers, and they fight for RINOS that have so badly hurt the Republican Party,” Trump opens. “That’s where they are and that’s where they will always be. Fortunately, nobody cares much about The Wall Street Journal editorial anymore. They have lost great credibility.” The op-ed itself was a response to Trump’s keynote address at the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference, where the former president touted his policy accomplishments in 2020 and accused President Joe Biden of having the worst first-month in the White House in modern history. Draft Of Trump Statement Reportedly Included A Dig At Mitch McConnell’s Appearance
An initial draft of a statement released Tuesday by former President Donald Trump reportedly took aim at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s physical appearance. A portion that said McConnell “had too many chins” was left out of the toned-down final statement, according to a report from Politico released Tuesday evening. “The Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political leaders like Senator Mitch McConnell at the helm,” Trump said in the released statement. “His lack of political insight, wisdom, skill, and personality has rapidly driven him from majority leader to minority leader. And it will only get worse.” WASHINGTON, DC – JULY 20: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) (L) listens to U.S. President Donald Trump talks to reporters while hosting Republican congressional leaders and members of Trump’s cabinet in the Oval Office at the White House July 20, 2020 in Washington, DC.
