Prince Philip exemplified a greater generation of service and duty
May 7, 2007 was among the most memorable days of my life — the day I met Queen Elizabeth and her husband, Prince Philip , the Duke of Edinburgh. With the duke’s passing on Friday at age 99, the world lost an iconic figure — a constant for nearly a century. So, too, we lost a connection to another era and a leading example of the lessons of the “Greatest Generation,” the merits of duty and honor. In the early 2000s, I advised the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee on U.K. affairs and founded the Congressional United Kingdom Caucus. Ng: In Defense of Clint Eastwood’s ‘Gran Torino,’ Now Under Attack from Left-Wing Cancel Mob
It was only a matter of time before the left-wing cancel mob came for Gran Torino , Clint Eastwood’s 2008 movie about a bigoted retired autoworker and his Asian Hmong neighbors. The racial epithets spewed by protagonist Walt Kowalski are so prolific that it’s hard to imagine the movie being released under today’s ultra-woke Hollywood standards. Anyone who’s seen Gran Torino and has half a brain will easily grasp that the movie is the opposite of racist. After Walt catches Thao, the Hmong teenager next door, trying to steal his cherished 1972 Gran Torino, he puts the boy to work fixing houses around the neighborhood. Walt grudgingly becomes his mentor, his friend, and eventually his father figure. In the end, he makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect Thao and his family from local Hmong gangbangers. None of that matters anymore because Gran Torino is now officially problematic. The wave of physical assaults on Asian Americans has unleashed a woke backlash against the movie … [Read more...] about Ng: In Defense of Clint Eastwood’s ‘Gran Torino,’ Now Under Attack from Left-Wing Cancel Mob

close Video New documents reveal Cuomo admin tracked nursing home deaths Documents obtained exclusively by FOX News raise questions on why Department of Health excluded hospitalization deaths; Bryan Llenas on 'Special Report' ALBANY, N.Y. – After a deadly year in New York's nursing homes, state lawmakers have passed legislation intended to hold facility operators more accountable for neglect and potentially force them to spend more on patient care. Rules passed in recent days as part of a state budget deal would require for-profit homes to spend at least 70% of their revenue on direct patient care, including 40% on staffers who work directly with residents. Under the deal, set to be signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo , home operators will also face limits on their profit margins. Any profits in excess of 5% would have to be sent to the state. "The goal is here to not only protect people in nursing homes but to dissuade bad actors from coming … [Read more...] about Reforms follow deadly year in New York nursing homes
