Warner Bros. is reportedly prepping another reboot of DC comics’ Superman , this time with slavery reparations advocate, author, and Marvel comic book writer Ta-Nehisi Coates teaming with powerhouse producer J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production company for the feature film, Deadline reports . Coates, who has a throng of radical, left-wing articles to his name, has been hired to write the latest entry in the Superman saga, while Abrams will produce. No stars or directors have been announced, nor have any story details emerged, according to Deadline. Henry Cavill, who’s helmed the role and the red cape since 2013’s Man of Steel , has expressed his eagerness to star as Superman in another feature. There is no confirmation from Warner Bros. if Cavill will be cast for the role. Abrams is further along with another comic book flick with WarnerMedia with his Justice League Dark project. WNBA team Atlanta Dream sold to new owners — including a former player
(CNN) The Atlanta Dream, the WNBA team previously co-owned by former US Sen. Kelly Loeffler , has been sold to executives from a national real estate firm and a former player. The sale of the team to Larry Gottesdiener, chairman of the real estate firm Northland, was unanimously approved by the WNBA and the NBA Board of Governors, the league said in a statement Friday. The new, three-member ownership group will also include Northland's Chief Operating Officer Suzanne Abair and former Dream player Renee Montgomery -- making her the first former player to become an owner and executive of a WNBA team. "My Dream has come true," Montgomery said in a statement. "Breaking barriers for minorities and women by being the first former WNBA player to have both a stake in ownership and a leadership role with the team is an opportunity that I take very seriously. I invite you to join me as the Dream builds momentum in Atlanta!" WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a … [Read more...] about WNBA team Atlanta Dream sold to new owners — including a former player
Pac-12 stock report: Update on the 2021 football schedule release; quarterback uncertainty; USC’s looming awards sweep
Commentary on the latest Pac-12 developments … Falling: Pac-12 football schedule. Yes, it’s coming, but (more) patience is required. This week, the conference informed athletic department officials via email that the 2021 schedule could be released next week, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the internal communication. However, the week of March 8 — the week of the Pac-12 basketball tournament — is viewed as perhaps the more likely window, the sources indicated. Why the additional delay? As of Tuesday afternoon, the conference had yet to distribute schedule models to the athletic directors and coaches for review and voting. That process can take at least a week and sometimes longer if consensus is elusive and revisions are required. “We haven’t seen anything,” a source said. This is the latest the Pac-12 has released its football schedule in recent memory (if not ever), in part because of circumstances beyond its control: The network partners, … [Read more...] about Pac-12 stock report: Update on the 2021 football schedule release; quarterback uncertainty; USC’s looming awards sweep
Todd Centeio named starting quarterback as Colorado State football begins spring practice
Colorado State football coach Steve Addazio made one thing clear as the Rams start spring practice this week: Todd Centeio is CSU’s starting quarterback. “We have a definitive starter going into spring and that’s Toddy,” Addazio said Thursday during a virtual news conference. “We’ve got a group of young guys and a couple of guys who have been around. We want to really have a great spring to evaluate where they’re at and then also elevate Toddy’s game.” Centeio is a Temple graduate transfer who arrived in Fort Collins last year with two seasons of eligibility left. He started in CSU’s opener at Fresno State with mixed results — 10-of-23 passing for 141 yards, plus 80 yards rushing on 13 carries — in a 38-17 loss. Centeio was then supplanted as starter by Patrick O’Brien, since transferred to Washington, with Centeio entering CSU games twice in relief. He threw one touchdown at Boise State and one interception at San Diego State. But Addazio’s glowing evaluation of Centeio is based … [Read more...] about Todd Centeio named starting quarterback as Colorado State football begins spring practice
Hot shooting, strong defense power CU Buffs to thorough win over No. 19 USC
Tad Boyle probably would be the first person to say an NCAA Tournament bid isn’t assured until Colorado sees its name in the 68-team bracket on Selection Sunday. Yet the Buffaloes understood the three-game homestand scheduled to complete the regular season offered a huge opportunity to cement those credentials for the Big Dance. And on Thursday night, the Buffs got that final homestand started by looking every bit like an NCAA Tournament team. Powered by a torrid shooting performance from Jeriah Horne and another memorable game from point guard McKinley Wright IV, the Buffs never trailed after USC converted the game’s opening basket, dominating the 19th-ranked Trojans for an 80-62 win at the CU Events Center. The victory keeps alive the Buffs’ slim but very real chance at landing the top seed at the Pac-12 Conference tournament and gave CU its third consecutive regular season sweep of the Trojans. The win also gave CU its 12th conference win, the program’s most since joining … [Read more...] about Hot shooting, strong defense power CU Buffs to thorough win over No. 19 USC
