In his 13th season as an NFL assistant coach, former Alabama quarterback Freddie Kitchens is getting the opportunity to run a pro offense.In Monday's overhaul of the Cleveland Browns' coaching staff, Kitchens was named the team's offensive coordinator. Kitchens is in his first season with the Browns and had been Cleveland's running backs coach and associate head coach for the first half of the 2018 season.On Monday, the Browns fired head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Cleveland installed defensive coordinator Gregg Williams as interim head coach and put Kitchens in charge of the offense.Kitchens won Alabama’s Mr. Football honor in 1992 as the quarterback at Etowah High School.
