A report released Wednesday stated Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) started to hire staff for a run for Governor of New York, showing he is serious about a 2022 challenge to Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D). Andrew Cuomo has created an opportunity for Republicans to run for governor. Cuomo’s favorability rating dropped 22 points from last summer, according to a Harvard CAPS-Harris poll. Currently, Cuomo has three ongoing sexual harassment allegations. In an interview with Axios Wednesday, Reed was asked about his recent hirings: “We want to hit the ground running, so we’re talking to people that want to be part of that effort,” Reed told Axios. BRUNDAGE, Texas – As the U.S. Customs and Border Protection reports a spike in people crossing the southern border, communities in South Texas are seeing an increase in car chases involving undocumented immigrants . Emily King and her family run an onion farm in Brundage, Texas , about 40 miles from the border. They live on about 200 acres between two busy highways. In the last month, cars have driven over five fences on their property. According to King, Border Patrol helicopters hover over their home weekly, in an effort to track down vehicles. Arkansas student shot during first day of in-person school dies

An Arkansas junior high school student has died from injuries he sustained in a school shooting on Monday, the victim’s mother and reports have confirmed. Daylon Burnett, 15, was shot at a Watson Chapel Junior High in Pine Bluff, about 44 miles south of Little Rock. It was the first day back for in-person instruction. Watson Chapel Junior High (Google Maps) Officers arrived at the school and found Burnett with gunshot wounds. He was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Burnett’s death was confirmed by Little Rock’s Fox 16 and the Watson Chapel School District.
