PARIS (AP) – Three riot police officers, a police commander, a police academy teacher – all are among eight French police officers who have killed themselves recently. That makes 64 so far this year – and the number just keeps on climbing.Deaths by suicide for French police now outnumber deaths in the line of duty. The protectors need protecting, say police unions, which are demanding more help to stop the problem. Those who choose to end their lives are from everywhere in France and of all ages, many with young children. The latest death came Wednesday in the Ardeche region in southeast France. Why they step across what one police union calls the “thin blue line” remains a question that French authorities have so far been unable to answer. Velvet Taco Employee Charged In Robbery, 3 Others Sought: Police
ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta Police have arrested an employee of the Buckhead restaurant Velvet Taco in connection with a robbery there, and are searching for three other men suspected in the Nov. 23 armed hold-up. Four masked suspects entered the rear door of the business at 77 West Paces Ferry Road, assaulted the manager, and took $3,255 in cash before fleeing on foot. Qwayshawn Green, 23, was arrested Wednesday on felony armed robbery charges, police said. Investigators believe he helped orchestrate the crime; he was considered a person of interest early in the investigation and was wanted for questioning, a police news release said.Green was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, false imprisonment, and kidnapping. Armed Police Impersonator Arrested At Arundel Mills: Officials
HANOVER, MD — A Stevensville man wearing a handgun in a holster was charged with impersonating a police officer at Arundel Mills mall during the busy weekend shopping period, authorities said. Eric Kappesser, 29, was confronted by security officers on Nov. 30, who then contacted police. A police report said Kappesser walked into a store about 4 p.m. Saturday, then took off his jacket, which had concealed a holstered handgun. Kappesser reportedly wore a tactical vest with a police-style badge on the front left side.When mall security staff talked with Kappesser, he claimed to be an Army Criminal Investigation Division agent. BART takeover robbery: 40 to 60 teens swarm train, hold up riders

Video: KTVU BART police are beefing up patrols at Oakland stations after dozens of juveniles terrorized riders Saturday night when they invaded the Coliseum Station and commandeered at least one train car, forcing passengers to hand over bags and cell phones and leaving at least two with head injuries. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses told police that 40 to 60 juveniles flooded the station, jumped the fare gates and rushed to the second-story train platform. Some of the robbers apparently held open the doors of a Dublin-bound train car while others streamed inside, confronting and robbing and in some cases beating riders. “I’ve been there 24 years and this is the first time I’ve heard of anything like this happening,” said Keith Garcia, a BART police officer and union president. 2 West Haven Residents Stole $11K Worth Of Goods: Milford Police
MILFORD, CT — Two West Haven residents, Paul Crouse, 30, and Alexis Conte, 27, both of Miner Road, are accused of stealing $5,000 in kitchen equipment from 290 Old Gate Lane on Aug. 21, police said. Police said both Crouse and Conte were arrested this week on two active warrants. Police say Conte and Crouse are also accused of stealing $6,000 worth of cymbals from a Pepes Farm Road business and trading them in in September and October. They are both charged with two counts of third-degree larceny, two counts of conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, second-degree criminal trespass, and conspiracy to commit second-degree criminal trespass.
