Carlos Smith, and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson (far right) to conclude a Democratic victory rally in Orlando on Aug 31 2018. The International Union of Painters lodge in Orlando reached its room capacity on Friday when a mass of Democratic candidates, including Tallahassee mayor and gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, rallied voters to celebrate the progressive party's victories in the primary elections last Tuesday. To Democrats, the event was a much needed reunion. And with a newfound optimism on the coattails of Gillum's explosive primary success, other candidates, like Bill Nelson, will need to keep pace. "I want you to know that we Democrats are going to be united as we take back the state of Florida," Gillum told a densely packed crowd of roughly 100 supporters at … [Read more...] about Embracing Andrew Gillum, Florida Democrats show their teeth. It's not as if it's just Republicans who have monkeyed around with elections in the past. The super PAC was responsible for attacks on Graham that labeled her as too much like a Republican to be acceptable to Democrats.Obama called for establishing a "voting rights division" within the Department of Justice (DOJ) to combat "voter fraud" and what he said were efforts to "discourage people to vote". They also are among the most ardent Trump defenders, something DeSantis does frequently on Fox News. The state is going in a good direction, but voters would "monkey this up" if they elected Andrew D. Gillum, a Democrat who stands to be the state's first African American governor, DeSantis said in a morning Fox News appearance. The amount of money that's going to be spent in this state by November will probably be staggering. He said he had personally made a decision to vote for Graham over DeSantis in the general election, and he may wind up voting for Gillum.Kemp's campaign ads might have … [Read more...] about Andrew Gillum Bucks Projections, Is Florida Democrats’ Choice For Governor

But there is a caveat —- he’ll need to be the party’s gubernatorial nominee. “Jeff believes it's the responsibility of whoever becomes the gubernatorial nominee to bring Democrats down the ticket to Tallahassee so they can be as effective as possible together,” Greene spokeswoman Claire VanSusteren said in an email this week. Greene, who had put $29.45 million of his own money into his gubernatorial campaign as of Aug. 10, announced Monday he’s set aside $5 million in his new Florida Defense Fund PAC to help Democrats in this year’s elections. He also has made contributions of $1,000 to $5,000 to aid a number of Cabinet and state Senate candidates. “This is my … [Read more...] about Greene offers up some green to Florida Democrats if he wins gubernatorial primary
It's a sweltering Tuesday afternoon and a man who could be just about anywhere in the world is sweating outdoors in a suit at the Florida State Fairgrounds, weathering insults from drivers headed to a Donald Trump rally in Tampa. "Jeff Greene sucks!" someone yells from an open window. Greene, a billionaire developer running for Florida governor, isn't fazed. He's played the villain before, and the Democrat didn't exactly come here to this MAGA event to make friends. Nope. Greene ventured to hostile territory in late July for the TV cameras and the optics of his mug outside the president's own party alongside a tour bus emblazoned with the words "Trump's Worst Nightmare." In a year where few things rile Democratic voters more than the mention of the president of the United States, Greene has gone all-in trying to position himself as the anti-Trump candidate in the five-way Democratic primary for governor. Spending millions on his campaign, he's produced commercials and mailers that … [Read more...] about Is this Mar-a-Lago member who Florida Democrats should choose for Governor?
