PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — Two Philadelphians have been indicted on allegations they tried to use explosives to rob a Wawa convenience store in June 2020. Desiree Adorno, 65, and Michael Fields, 34, were arrested and charged with conspiracy to use explosive devices to steal lottery tickets and money from the safe in the Wawa on Richmond Street near the Betsy Ross Bridge. Fields was also charged with possessing an unregistered firearm. Major League Baseball announced Thursday that June 2 will be officially known as “Lou Gehrig Day.” Unofficially, it also will be “Jim Hilliard Day.” Jim is one of the thousands of Americans who’ve come face to face with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) — the rare, devastating and fatal condition more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
